Carnival Spirit Dry Dock - May 2018

Recommended Posts

Hi.

Does anyone know the nature of the refurbishment/repairs/ improvements/renovations which are to be carried out on the ship?

I believe that it will be in dry dock only for a few weeks. Even working around the clock, as they do in Singapore, I can't imagine the works will be all that extensive.

My family and I will be cruising to New Caledonia on the Spirit next January, and it would be great if it has received a major face lift!

Two weeks is the usually dry docking period. Spirit's last one was two weeks. It's all planned meticulously....wham, bang...

The only things I've heard are they are removing the chapel, extending the kids club and adding a "craft room".

P.S. I'll let you know on 6th June, when I hop onboard....

They are removing the doors in the 4K class cabins and replacing them with full size windows. These cabins on Deck 4 have lifeboats outside them instead of a balcony. They were popular because although they were classed as interior cabins, they were larger and had doors like balcony cabins. You could open the door and get a little fresh air, but could not step outside. They will still be better than an interior due to size and natural light and some sort of obstructed view, but no more fresh air.

  • 2 weeks later...

Fun shops are changing, they shut a week before we docked in Singapore. Although Cherry on Top did not close. The Conference room where the art displays are will become 2 rooms with one being the craft room.

Plus some touch ups here and there, like the bannisters on deck 10s railings have been replaced.

Photos are being posted on social media. The library/chapel has been converted into The Warehouse arcade - looks very nice and modern. A new company has taken over the duty free shops, also looking very nice. As well as SoulPlay, the arts/craft area which according to the patent will be making cosmetics, soaps and perfumes.

Carpet & chairs replaced & booth seats reupholstered in the dining room.

Cabins repainted and carpet replaced where required, including the casino.

Lido buffet appeared to be having work done.

Hull has been repainted. She's looking very nice!!

21 days to go for me!
