Rare deefer Posted April 3, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 3, 2018 We are “comped” a minisuite on a Panama Cruise - the price difference on the NCL website to the lowest suite is only $200 pp. When I asked what we would have to pay to upgrade through CAS we were quoted $1200pp. The rep said they have set prices for upgrades. I know a few years ago CAS had set prices for upgrades, but I was pretty sure that changed - I’m quite sure on my last upgrade we paid the difference that was advertised on the NCL website. Am I confused? What has your recent experience been with upgrades through CAS?
Mike_DeA Posted April 4, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 4, 2018 Try calling back and getting another rep. If they give the same answer then at least you know. You may be invited to bid for upgrades so that would likely be a lot less than $1200.
spidybabe Posted April 4, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 4, 2018 They have their own upgrade pricing Safe sailing Sent from my SM-N950U using Forums mobile app
Rare deefer Posted April 7, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted April 7, 2018 Try calling back and getting another rep. If they give the same answer then at least you know. You may be invited to bid for upgrades so that would likely be a lot less than $1200. Update: So I phoned and asked again. This rep told me that for most cruises to the Caribbean and Europe you do only have to pay the difference listed on the NCL website. But some cruises are considered “premium” cruises and the full transit Panama Canal cruise we are looking at is considered one of those. For “premium” cruises they have a set rate for uprgrades. But he took another look at our play, spoke to a supervisor and gave us the upgrade for $800 pp. Thank you Mike for the suggestion to phone again, saved us a little coin:D
KarimaJ Posted April 23, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 23, 2018 I tried doing this from balcony to minisuite since online there was no difference at the time. They quoted me $400, said they have different upgrade prices.

KarimaJ Posted April 26, 2018 #7 Share Posted April 26, 2018 How long ago? They changed their upgrade rules last year. This was just in April or March. They wouldn’t give me the mini suite since they said CAS is already getting a big discount. Kind of a bummer since the price was the same as balcony at the time. For “premium” cruises they have a set rate for uprgrades.:D i guess my 'free' Bliss cruise from my land casino is considered premium since it's a new ship? fixed pricing to upgrade from Inside to: OV (+$200), balcony (+$400), Large Balcony B6 (+$550), Aft Balcony B1 (+$670) i think the upgrade price is per person. i'm going solo but there's no surcharge for going solo for me because of my land casino cruise certificate. im assuming there's no solo surcharge for upgrades either. currently, Inside costs $1249 and a regular balcony costs $1549 for a price difference of $300. aft balcony costs $1849 for a price difference of $600. the fixed upgrade pricing is more expensive. :(
Sand and Seas Posted May 7, 2018 #9 Share Posted May 7, 2018 I was told we could not use our SevenStar Balcony cruise on the Bliss to Alaska this first year so I would guess that's a premium cruise. We could use it for the Bliss from LA or Miami. Every other year it has been eligible for any 7 day cruise to anywhere except Hawaii on Pride of America (which doesn't have a casino.) KarimaJ Posted May 8, 2018 #10 Share Posted May 8, 2018 Hard to believe my Escape cruise was premium especially during the “off week”. Wasn’t even sold out. Maybe they gave me the wrong info. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
