Question. We got a free cruise from casino. They said we can upgrade to yacht club if we want to. Which we do. We will never sail again without yacht club or similiar. Anyways I heard if u get upgrades you don’t get experience but if you upgrade to yacht club how would you not get all the benefits. Anyone done this before can shed some light ?

Be careful. I got a letter given to me for 30% off, while on a cruise and sitting at a slot machine in the casino, and then when I attempted to book it and was turned down...and I was in the Yacht Club at the time they gave me the letter!! They would not give me any explanation for their refusal to honor the discount. Make sure you get everything in writing with names attached for future proof.

There are 2 T&Cs attached - you must use it within 2 months for a cruise in the next 9 months.

I've gotten 4 of those vouchers to date and never had a problem using them. They even allowed me use it with a future cruise discount of 10% that we were given on Orchestra in December due to missing a couple of ports. So I booked a cruise for later this year with 5% Voyagers Club + 10% + 30% discounts - giving me a total of just over 40% discount! :p

We got 30% discount off our upcoming YC on Splendida - worth over €4000!!!

There have been conflicting reports on the forum as to whether you get the YC perks with a free upgrade. You definitely don't get them if you're upgraded (freely, by MSC) to any other cabin "Experiences" level from the one you originally booked.

If you pay for the upgrade you will get all the benefits. I don't think they meant that you'd get a free upgrade, though?

Not quite sure how they could justify to other YC passengers who have paid a premium to be there, how they can give free drinks etc to someone they upgraded for free!

As I've said - I've read conflicting reports on here. One or two posters, who shared their experience, said that they were prevented from using the restaurant and Top Sail Lounge, with one saying that they paid an extra €35 pppd (a steal!!!) to gain access to the facilities. Someone went on to say that the bedlinen was replaced (YC guests enjoy better quality linens, etc) and the bathrobes removed from the cabin.

Yet others have claimed that they enjoyed ALL of the benefits from a free upgrade?????

Hi Bea,

Did you book those voyages while onboard??

I started my inquiries well within the two month notice period. As a guest who was already sailing in the YC I did not need an upgrade. They refused my res which was within the nine month requirement and then would give no reason for doing so after two more demands. I told my TA to cancel two reservations I had already made...and told them so. I can spend my $$ in some other casino.

I've never booked while onboard. I've used both TAs and MSC direct when using the vouchers. The first time, I had to post it to the TA for him to forward it on. It was when they started offering them, first. Needless to say, I wasn't keen on this. However, since then, I just scan the voucher and email it to either the TA (when using one) or directly to MSC. Never been a quibble. They even allowed me to push the 9 month date by a couple of weeks on one of the bookings. One poster recently posted that one of the T&Cs wasn't included on their voucher - IIRC, it was the 9 month limit. They received theirs on a US sailing.

Just clarification we received a free inside stateroom. Not the 30percent we went over those points. We have a tear to sail. And I was told in casino we can PAY to upgrade to yc. So it wouldn’t be a free upgrade we can pay the difference. I’ll be calling the casino number tomorrow to confirm

we just got an offer from our land casino (SANDS PA) for first time for a MSC Comp Cruise, but on the pick up date will be out of state. by any change do you have the phone number you will need to call to make the cruise reservation?. We receive these offers many times from Ceasars Entr. for NCL cruises and with them once the offer is sent to you is in their system. I would like to give MSC a try but future travel plans prevent me from picking up the certificate. Thanks for your help.

We received a free cruise on and went on the Seaside in April. We had a Fantasica experience with a balcony room at no cost. When we got back, we had won another one and decided to upgrade this one to the YC. We had to pay $1200 each for the upgrade on Divinia in November for the 10day. Plus, while you are on the free cruise, it is also a VIP casino cruise with special gifts and drawings for the VIP cruise members and free drinks in the casino! It was WONDERFUL!

What' the spending limits to get 30%? To get free cruise? Are there tiers you have to hit? I am 34 and plan to play slots with 100$ a day on a 1$ machine to try to get a free cruise it seems easy to get it if everyone is doing it.

Take a screenshot of your certificate and send it to URCOMPED for another free cruise. They will match (and usually do better). After 25 comped NCL cruises we used URCOMPED and have sailed once on the Divina and twice on the Seaside for free! They are a great company and you will be amazed at what they offer. Tell them Tina and Jeff recommended them.

Safe sailing

No way it' 2.50$/point I just mentioned my limit is 100$ a day for slots you got to be kidding me to exploit 1 point for 2.50 it should be 1/1. If everyone is getting these cruises how am i seriously suppose to qualify with 2.50/1 ratio?

Just for 30% I have to play through 2500$ are you kidding no one can afford that let alone some people claim to play 10000 points that' 25000$ play through insane - I just said 100$ is what I budgeted for slots but j want the 30% and free cruise too I figured 100$ is a lot already not many people spend that much as it is on slots so what am I missing here .

I managed to get 1200 points to qualify for the 30% discount voucher on Meraviglia last year and was also €100 up at the time. So it actually cost me nothing!

ETA ... For cruises of more than 7 nights, you have to earn 2000 points to qualify for the 30% discount voucher.

Again I am missing something here.. I am 34 years old, it took me all year to save up $2000 p/p to go on the YC cabin trip in August on Seaside. You cant be serious you expect me to play through $3000 ($2.50 per point x 1200 points) are you kidding me? That is what my entire vacation is worth, no one would expect you to play $3000 just for 30% off I am sorry there is a mistake here.

I just mentioned that I have a budget of $100 per day on slots which to me is huge, and for anyone is huge in todays economy. So cruise ships understand this so based on that the tier should be somewhere around 500 points based on 2.50/1 or if it is 1/1 it should be 1000 points - max $1000 playthrough for 30% if it is $3000 not a single person in the casino is going to reach that because the cruise them selves cost so much just to get on board.

You are going to be shocked when you see the amounts some people play. And remember, hopefully you don't lose every pull on the machine and at worse it is a give and take, and you are able to play a while. Ending up a winner.

Also when comped by casino or URCOMPED, you do not pay for your cabin.

Safe sailing
