Anyone on Carnival Spirit at the moment.

Have just noticed on Carnival's facebook page that the Spirit will be late arriving on Wednesday October 14th. We are boarding on the 14th and now we will be boarding and leaving later. Just wondering if anyone knows what the problem is? TIA

Carnival have posted that they are delayed due to a mechanical problem with part of the propulsion system.

Sydney ports website have updated the eta to 3pm tomorrow afternoon but that is of course subject to change. Carnival are expected to be letting passengers know around lunch time today what time boarding will start.

Depending of course on what exactly is wrong, Issues with propulsion on these types of ships can be difficult to fix so it will be interesting to see how this develops.

Lets hope she does get away at midnight....Carnival Legend is in next day and will need the berth.

Carnival Spirit is just off Newcastle as I post, so it she may be running a bit ahead of time?

It will still be a hectic day at the OPT as people wait for their ship to come in.

:eek: I don't envy the poor passengers that have to wait until very late to board, and then everyone will have to wait up until midnight or later for the safely briefing. :(

They should make it a pyjama safety briefing ! Another idea for a theme night.

and those on board probably put their bags out last night so will only have hand luggage today.:rolleyes:

It looks as though the Spirit arrived back about 20 minutes ago. There are photos on the Carnival Australia F/B page. That made it about 12.45 Sydney time. They made better time coming back than expected.

Hopefully all goes well for this evenings boarding and departure. I can see there are a number of people quite unhappy that they have to have their kids up so late!

Any update on if she got away on time?

We were watching the Sydney Cafe webcam a bit after 10pm, but didn't see when she actually went. So it was at least that late.

Some reported being told boarding wouldn't be till about 11:00 so hard to se how they could get away before that.

She departed OPT at 11.30 .:)

I must have forgotten to get dressed that morning. Maybe it was the night before that was the problem :D
