veryseasonedtraveler Posted March 23, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2016 We have visited Ephesus twice. We also visited Mary's house. Does anyone have any other ideas about what to see and do?

wesport Posted March 24, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 24, 2016 HAL offers a tour Miletus and the temple of Apollo. On our second trip to Kusadasi, we did this tour as we did an all day in ephasus the previous time there. Very enjoyable tour!!

It was a good complement to having seen Ephesus previously.
floridafolks Posted March 25, 2016 #5 Share Posted March 25, 2016 After visiting Ephesus twice, we branched out and took a dolmus (with the locals) to the hill town of Sirince and had a lovely day- beautiful spot and great fruit flavored wines! The next two times we opted to have a Turkish Bath- once just outside of Kusadasi and once in Selcuk.
Rare cruisemom42 Posted March 25, 2016 #6 Share Posted March 25, 2016 If you like history and ruins, Kusadasi has so many options beyond Ephesus. You could do a full-day tour of Priene (wonderful Greek city situated at the top of a fairly steep hill), Miletus (terrific theater and other scattered ruins) and the Temple of Apollo at Didyma -- the ancient equivalent of a baroque church. If you're willing to go further afield, there is Aphrodisias, a huge Roman city famed for producing sculptures for the wealthy of the Roman empire on an almost unbelievable scale. And there is also the dual draw of the natural "cotton candy" terraces at Pamukkale along with another Roman city (Hierapolis) beside it. You can actually swim in a pool filled with Roman columns and capitals. Plus a spooky necropolis...! The museum in Selcuk (near Ephesus) has just recently been completely renovated and houses some very interesting finds from Ephesus and the other nearby sites. Anyway, there are a lot of options. Good luck in choosing one!

Rare cruisemom42 Posted March 25, 2016 #8 Share Posted March 25, 2016 Just how many times have you been there, cruisemom42?! Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app :o:o Three visits on cruises and stayed there (in a lovely hotel on the beach) for three days on a land trip. Other than the beach, Kusadasi itself doesn't have so much to recommend it -- it's a town that grew up strictly to cater to tourism. But for the wonderful sites located nearby, I'd have to rate it very high. :D
Rare chefestelle Posted March 25, 2016 #9 Share Posted March 25, 2016 I am truly envious. I spent nearly a month in Turkey decades ago and never went anywhere that I didn't love. These are fabulous options to pick from Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

Seasoned Traveller is getting smarter. Thanks for the great advice everyone.
