COLLEYBERRY Posted October 15, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 15, 2009 I am often intrigued by CC names ,and wonder how the different handles were decided upon. Some are obvious ,others I am sure have an interesting story. Mine is simply a family nickname that I acquired as a child :D Care to share your CC handle story ? gooselace Posted October 15, 2009 #4 Share Posted October 15, 2009 I am often intrigued by CC names ,and wonder how the different handles were decided upon. Some are obvious ,others I am sure have an interesting story. Mine is simply a family nickname that I acquired as a child :D Care to share your CC handle story ? Colleen Mine is also a childhood nickname given to me by a friend who couldn't quite pronounce my actual name. Unfortunately when I first signed on to this board, I slightly misspelled it, so it makes less sense, even to those who know my given name. :o
RevNeal Posted October 15, 2009 #5 Share Posted October 15, 2009 I've used the name RevNeal since I first joined Compuserve in 1990 and AOL in 1992. It's the screen name I've used on theological debate and discussion boards for years. Every once-in-a-while I'll come across other "RevNeal" handles ... there's a Baptist pastor who uses that screen name on other boards and, sometimes, things that he has said have been attributed to me (and, I'm told, visa versa). But, for the most part, "RevNeal" is me. :)
dandro Posted October 15, 2009 #6 Share Posted October 15, 2009 The "d" is the first initial of the hubby's name, the "and" is self explanatory and the "ro" is the first 2 letters of my first name. Henceforth "d and ro" = dandro

Storylady Posted October 15, 2009 #11 Share Posted October 15, 2009 I'm retired children's librarian. I still work part time to earn money for our cruises. We have weekly storytimes at my library and one of the little girls in attendance started calling me the Storylady. So I have been the Storylady ever since. Randyk47 Posted October 15, 2009 #14 Share Posted October 15, 2009 Nothing real special about my handle. First name is Randy, the "k" is the first letter of my last name, and the "47" is my birth year. Goes back to my very first AOL account back in the early 90's. Colakid Posted October 15, 2009 #15 Share Posted October 15, 2009 Mine comes from the situation of an earlier passion of collecting Coca-Cola products. I generally use this handle when signing in on boards. Colakid.
velvetred Posted October 15, 2009 #16 Share Posted October 15, 2009 My favorite cake is red velvet cake. On another board I wanted to use redvelvet but the handle was already taken and so I just switched it around. To make remembering my handle on different sites simple, I kept the reversal even though my husband says it sounds like I work in the porn industry - lol. Also, I have red hair (well, with age I need a little help now but that is my natural color mixed with some gray).
user8 Posted October 15, 2009 #17 Share Posted October 15, 2009 When I initially found CC and tried to set up my account, I made a mistake in how I rgistered. I had been using user8 as a password and when I e-mailed Laura on what I had done, she set me up with user8 instead of what I originally wanted. But, since it got me on the boards, I decided to just keep it.
Boytjie Posted October 15, 2009 #18 Share Posted October 15, 2009 Mine is South African slang, a mix of English and Afrikaans which literally meaning "little boy" and is pronounced "boy-key". It is often used as "guy" such as "what a guy"/"what a boytjie". When I first signed up for things on the Internet it was usually available as a user id, not so much anymore. I guess it is not easy to figure out the proniunciation so at the CC meet-and-greet on the QM2 when I introduced myself some responded with "oh, the scuba guy!' :)

kiberkid Posted October 15, 2009 #20 Share Posted October 15, 2009 When our daughter was little she pronounced our last name as "Kiber". My Aunt started calling her "KiberKid". It stuck. operafan Posted October 15, 2009 #23 Share Posted October 15, 2009 When I first found CC I had planned on just signing up and probably not visiting too often so I used the first thing that came into my head, Operafan, since I had just finished chatting with an old friend on an opera board. Who knew I'd be on here every day.........
Spendogirl Posted October 15, 2009 #24 Share Posted October 15, 2009 My original nickname was "captain spendo" aptly named for my passion to shop:p but peeps always thought I was a dude, so it was renamed to "spendogirl" which I've had on all my email, internet boards, and I have one friend who only calls me "spendo".. I always get a chuckle because women can really relate to the name..
