Buckeye@sea Posted January 10, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 10, 2005 This my be nuts, and we will need to give up vices and lunches until December, but we are thinking about doing the weeks of 12/3 ans 12/10 on the Connie in 2005. They have completely different itineraries for those weeks. Can anyone share good and bad experiences in going back-to-back on consecutive weeks on the same ship? C 2 C Posted January 10, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 10, 2005 Entertainment is the same. Menu, although good is the same. We find 7 days way to short so B2B are great. Really saves on travel poertion of your cruising budget. We now do B2B but at least 10 days each.. The more you do it the more you want to do. Enjoy. Trixsea Posted January 10, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 10, 2005 There is nothing better than hearing disembarkation called while still laying in bed.
Rare uktog Posted January 10, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 10, 2005 and you can have the hot tubs virtually to yourself for a couple of hours and it is also great to be able to look at the list of entertainment in week one and think I do not need to do all that this week - but do check sometimes entertainers leave so you will want to be sure you can see them week
C 2 C Posted January 10, 2005 #5 Share Posted January 10, 2005 and you can have the hot tubs virtually to yourself for a couple of hours On many ships the pools and all faclities are closed for cleaning and maintenance during turn-around days. Rare uktog Posted January 10, 2005 #6 Share Posted January 10, 2005 we must have been lucky - always had them available on turnaround day - worth checking though to be sure
marco Posted January 11, 2005 #7 Share Posted January 11, 2005 Be sure you will have the same cabin for both cruises. Though not the end of the world, it makes it SO much more convenient if you do.
kated Posted January 11, 2005 #8 Share Posted January 11, 2005 We are also thinking about doing a B2B on the connie next december- the weeks of the 10th and the 17th though. Might be nice since the itineraries are completely different. Just hoping that finals week doesnt fall the week of the 10th...that might be an issue. The prices are low enough for these weeks that the b2b wont be too expensive at all. Maybe ill see you on the 10th :)\ Kate
Rare Lois R Posted January 11, 2005 #9 Share Posted January 11, 2005 hi Kate:) we are neighbors!.......and I, along with a group of friends from last month's sailing are going on the Dec 10th cruise:D ....Bill and Marianne were on it too.........we have a great ROLL CALL started already.......we would love to have you join us........and we are TRYING to get Bill and Marianne to go with us too:)
The Scotsman Posted January 11, 2005 #10 Share Posted January 11, 2005 We have done 3 or 4 B2B cruises, makes a lot of sense when travelling from the UK. Advantages: Ship to yourself for turnaround day ( all the facilities have always been available for us). Food: a chance to try those things you maybe couldn't quite manage the first week. Shows: althought the same each week you don't have to bust a gut to see everything during the first week. Disadvantages: Waisteline Waisteline and Waisteline
Buckeye@sea Posted January 11, 2005 Author #11 Share Posted January 11, 2005 Thanks for the encouraging remarks:) I agree same cabin would be ideal ... the accountants would say you can amortize the airfare expense across two weeks/trips ... now to be able to secure 2 weeks vacation and the extra $$$$$! Sekhmet Posted January 11, 2005 #12 Share Posted January 11, 2005 The Scotsman has it spot on for those of us from the East side of the pond, except for disadvantage number 2 - having to queue TWICE in the theatre for US Immigration :) .
Rare uktog Posted January 11, 2005 #13 Share Posted January 11, 2005 I would agree re the immigration and a third negative for us UK characters readjusting to the climate on our return
Rare Lois R Posted January 13, 2005 #14 Share Posted January 13, 2005 Hi Bill:) so what did you and Marianne decide to do? You gotta go with us on Dec 10th:D .....will you already be on the ship to greet us?;)
Buckeye@sea Posted January 13, 2005 Author #15 Share Posted January 13, 2005 Hey Lois:) , We won't have a final decision on this one for months:confused: . Spoke with our mutual TA and there is no "deal" by going b2b. So we want to hold our place at the dinner table with you guys for 12/10 until we get a better handle on things. We will assume we are going, unless something comes up that forces us to cancel one or both weeks! Starting my new job tomorrow:o ... new industry, new people ... should be interesting Bill

lisiamc Posted January 13, 2005 #17 Share Posted January 13, 2005 Our dream cruise would be to do the last Med cruise, the transatlantic and the first Caribbean cruise. Back-to-back-to-back. I think we'll have to win the lottery first though! Lisa
