creef1014 Posted January 15, 2010 #26 Share Posted January 15, 2010 from the sounds of it you should book another flight...do you really want to end your cruise worrying about whether or not you'll make your flight? Sounds way too stressfull of a way to end a cruise for me....if other flights aren't ridiculously more expensive I'd book for later

Sounds way too stressfull of a way to end a cruise for me....if other flights aren't ridiculously more expensive I'd book for later Too late to change..Too expensive... We had to use up credits from a changed DELta flight to Europe & Delta goes from JFK to miami----other than that we will never do any crusing from miami again--too much drama!! (I think i said that the last two times!!)
the_dylaness Posted January 15, 2010 #29 Share Posted January 15, 2010 Recalling some of the recent threads about awful disembarkations in Miami would make me think twice about this plan. Of course, you and only you can decide how much risk you're willing to take and at what savings, but I'd be a nervous wreck the whole day before which would spoil it for me. c-legs Posted January 15, 2010 #30 Share Posted January 15, 2010 I M O : not a chance....., at all !!:( In one morning, you'll ruin 5 days of relaxation and fun....and end up spending way more $$$ in change fee ( and Lybrax....) that you would spend to secure a safer return flight home and enjoy the whole experience 100% from leaving home to turinng the key back in !! Good luck.... Smooth seas C
Rare hcat Posted January 17, 2010 #31 Share Posted January 17, 2010 so does everyone seems to think 12:30 is bad???? That used to apply to 10:30 flights....or are the main comments directed to the 10:30 idea (that I would never even consider!!) Has anyone recently had a Good Experience with the 12:30 time frame at POM to miami airport if they walk off & grab a cab? Amerian Airlines had a real zoo in JFK today--flying not so easy anymore!! Rare Texed Posted January 17, 2010 #34 Share Posted January 17, 2010 Has anyone recently had a Good Experience with the 12:30 time frame at POM to miami airport if they walk off & grab a cab? We used the luggage valet service. We were escorted to the front of the line for customs. We grabbed a cab. We were at in the airport is 30 minutes. AnthonyF Posted January 17, 2010 Author #35 Share Posted January 17, 2010 Also The Century is a small ship by today's standards and disembarking should be simpler....... Yes I am talking myself into it..... Heck the flight back could be delayed and not leave @ 10:30....... ;)

chessbriar Posted January 17, 2010 #38 Share Posted January 17, 2010 You might want to read this thread about port of Miami delays. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1113618&highlight=delay+miami Over 2 hours late debarking.
stephenp Posted January 17, 2010 #39 Share Posted January 17, 2010 Hi we came off the Connie in Miami on Jan 3rd. left the ship at 7.50 and a big mess at immigration only 4 officers there. Had to wait 50 mins for our bags. you should be ok if you carry your bags yourself. I will never take a cruise again from Miami. For me everything is terrible with unfriendly people. FLL is much much much better. Stephen
Rare hcat Posted January 17, 2010 #40 Share Posted January 17, 2010 We'll let you know how it goes-- Delta really was no help-- they Wanted $10 to change pp & an increased fare--t hey now suggest you get there 3 hrs ahead for JFK & Miami-- but will not let you board if you are later than 1 hr ahead , so I think we have a shot at getting there by 11:15 (just learned our flight is 12:15 not 12:30) if we miss it--we'll stay over & take SWAir to Islip which is what we should have done to begin with Lessons learned" No Miami if we can help it & no DELTA! mardon Posted January 17, 2010 #41 Share Posted January 17, 2010 Anthony F - you better read the thread two down from yours. It tells of his experience yesterday getting off the ship. He was told he was getting off at 9 a.m. and didn't get off until ll:30. Better think again about that l0:30 a.m. flight.

Double check with your airline. Some are requiring 90 minutes for domestic flights now. And that's when you have to be checked in, not walking in the airport!
