ladytaekwondo Posted April 15, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 15, 2010 My DH and I are leaving for Miami in 8 days to go on our five year anniversary cruise on Majesty of the Seas. We are flying in the day before and staying at the Port of Miama Holiday Inn. We are not going to rent a car. Does anyone have any recommendations for nearby restaurants for the evening meal? We traditionally go to Emeril's in South Beach, but we want to try something different by the hotel this time......
emdia43 Posted April 15, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 15, 2010 Directly across the road from the hotel is the Bayside Marketplace, there are numerous restaurants and shops there. http://www.baysidemarketplace.com/dining-entertainment
Sue L Posted April 15, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 15, 2010 Bubba Gumps is right across the street in the Bayside Marketplace. There are quite a few restaurants there, none the caliber of Emerils but some decent choices.
Pumbaamd Posted April 15, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 15, 2010 Don't believe there is anything like Emeril's nearby. You will be directly across the street from Bayside, a 3 minute walk. There are several dining choices there. http://www.baysidemarketplace.com/dining-entertainment Enjoy your vacation!!! Rick and Deirdra
BettyCruiser Posted April 15, 2010 #5 Share Posted April 15, 2010 Last week we had a very nice meal at Tradewinds at Bayside, their tables are next to the water, good scenery, good food.:)
cb at sea Posted April 15, 2010 #6 Share Posted April 15, 2010 Bayside is a fine way to spend the evening....after you eat, you can stroll thru the shopping area....just to kill a bit of time before heading to bed. Or, walk over to the Intercontinental...they have a lovely bar area. (It's a Holiday Inn property, too!)
Parkay Posted April 15, 2010 #7 Share Posted April 15, 2010 Nothing spectacular near the Holiday Inn (bayside is full of chain so so restaurants). A cab to South Beach is easy and cheap. That's your best option.
RevSmith Posted April 15, 2010 #8 Share Posted April 15, 2010 I like the area off of Biscayne around 10th street...you can find some really up scale restaurants around there...near the Conrad Hilton and a little west.
chef_christoph Posted April 15, 2010 #9 Share Posted April 15, 2010 I know this isn't near bayside but the last time we were in Miami a friend recommended a restaurant called, "Dolores but you can call me Lolita" Honest, that's what it is called. We had a really good meal and a few drinks, it was a lot of fun. Just thought I'd throw it out there as an option. http://www.doloreslolita.com/ Have fun! Sacramento Cruiser Posted April 15, 2010 #11 Share Posted April 15, 2010 I would recommend either Joes Stone Crab or Casa Tua - both over in South Beach and pricey but good.
DataStar Posted April 15, 2010 #12 Share Posted April 15, 2010 My organization has a field office a few blocks from where you're staying. I agree that the chain restaurants at Bayside are, well, chain restaurants. But there are a couple of independent that our guys like a lot. There's a Brazilian steakhouse called The Knife that's good. It's a fixed price place, around $25 for dinner if memory serves. By the way, that includes a bottle of wine per person, There's also a Nicaraguan steakhouse in the mall, called Los Ranchos. There are a few in the Miami area, and it's locally owned. The marinated meats are a specialty, and they also have some excellent desserts (but those do come with a bunch of calories at no extra charge!)
