You will be ok on Hoilday.. I know you will, alcoholic haze is brilliant. It's what you make it at the end of the day, especially when you meet up with like minded fellow cruisers, the cabins are only for sleeping in at our age :o if your like me .. up at the crack of dawn cuppa in hand and standing up on deck watching ..coming into port ( dont them little buggers work hard docking) :D then breakfast ready for the hectic day ahead ..sight seeing then shopping then sunbathing...when she must be obeyed shuts her eyes ..I sneak off to the sailaway bar for a few pints of Strongbow..I have the uncany knack of just getting back when she wakes up off the sunbed........put some more oil on please as though I had never been away :D

Then in the Evening, meal / show / beer/cider/Scotch a quick gamble and that concludes day 1

A holiday is what you make it.. no more negativity please. :p

Hi Gareth,

the 10 day forecast looks better on the Weather Channel website.

As long as beds comfortable, the A.I. is flowing and we get the Thomson standard of service and entertainment we should be OK.

The weather will hopefully be better very soon - It's just a shame that today is overcast in Livorno where the Dream currently is in port - after two days of rain it must be a little disappointing for some on board.

Tuesday in Palma is said to be quite nice and sunny after some early morning mist - so hope it stays fine for your cruise

Hi Gareth,

Looks OK according to the forecast for nearly all days as far as I can go with the forecast. Sunny and warm

Dream is sold as

Spacious. Stylish. Modern. Meet the newest member of the Thomson fleet...

Thomson Dream. It's our biggest and most luxurious ship yet. It goes without saying that it comes with the Thomson stamp of quality - food that scores top marks, service that really goes that extra mile and entertainment that ranges from Broadway-style shows to late-night discos. But it's got a few surprises in store, too.

Take the cabins for example. They've got interior-designed good looks. Think neutral colours accented by bold feature walls, pale wood furniture and the kind of trimmings you'd expect from a top-drawer hotel - safes, hairdryers and minibars.

It's a similar story in the shared spaces, where pale colours and modern accessories set a contemporary scene. Plus all that extra space means there's plenty of choice. There are large bars made for mingling and cosy corners ready for a night cap.

As for nice-to-have extras, expect adults-only areas where peace and quiet reigns, and a sun terrace with a swimming pool and a retractable roof. A stay on Thomson Dream is the elegant way to sail.

Dining - waiter service

  • Orion Restaurant: Offering breakfast, lunch and six-course dinners, this stylish eatery has an open-seating policy so you can dine where and when you like.
  • The Grill: A posh take on surf'n'turf is the house speciality at The Grill, where steaks, seafood and fresh fish are cooked to order. A cover charge applies and onboard reservations are required.
  • Gala night: The weekly Captain's Cocktail Party and Gala Dinner is an event worth dressing up for.

Dining - flexible options

  • Andromeda Restaurant: Help yourself buffets are served round the clock in this 24-hour dining room. Plus there are themed nights twice a week.
  • Sirens Restaurant: A smaller alternative to the main dining room, this cosy restaurant offers an international and British buffet that's open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
  • Terrace Grill: Lunchtime BBQs, pizzas and salads served in the sunshine.

Entertainment

  • Atlante Theatre: West End-style musicals and comedy from UK guest acts are staged in this two-storey show lounge.
  • Medusa Lounge: Live bands, game shows and spotlight cabaret take to the floor here.
  • Argo Lounge: Live classical music sets a relaxing scene in this laid-back venue.
  • Casino: Roulette, blackjack and slot machines are just a taste of what's in store in the casino.
  • Ladonte Disco: This venue us home to karaoke, cabaret and, of course, the dance floor.

Bars and lounges

  • Medusa Bar: This window-lined bar is the best spot for watching the world go by.
  • Delo Bar: Drinks are served shaken and stirred in the ship's classy cocktail bar.
  • Ocean Bar: Set in the centre of the ship, this is the ideal place to meet your friends for pre-dinner tipples.
  • Lido Bars: For al fresco drinks, head to one of these poolside bars.

Other activities

  • Beauty Salon: Treat yourself to a new hairstyle, a revitalising facial or a muscle-melting massage.
  • Nereidi Fitness Centre: A well-equipped gym complete with free weights, state-of-the-art machines and space for aerobics.
  • Sports Deck: Courts kitted out for basketball, tennis, volleyball, and 5-a-side football.
  • Other: Onboard extras come in the shape of a Kidzone, library, internet lounge, card room and shops.

"The ship needs a makeover and the bathrooms a bit tired" does not tie in with the above and would be concerning

Thanks for the early report - do the cabins smell of stale smoke too ?

Is Lisa a very small girl in height very bubbly with dark hair - if so she has done this role on other ships ?

Has any Thomson staff said anything about the issues you have identified /

Enjoy Barcelona !

hi getting a bit worried about poor review of the dream they should of made sure air con etc working before the first cruise . sounds like what the brochure says is not what we have paid for

Agree and I`ve said that all along. In fact there was a thread a while ago(can`t find it)regarding this,as in the selling/promoting technique.I saw it as false advertising/promotion.Selling it as the best thing since sliced bread when it appears not on intial feedback.Hope the probs are sorted before I go.

As this is the first cruise it is not really surprising that there are problems which happen to all ships. Hopefully everything will be working as advertised before I cruise in July.

I seem to remember some Costa reviews mentioning air conditioning problems.

Thomsons really have to deliver all that is promised in the advertising.

i have read that they have been experiencing air con problems in reviews from july 06 here is the link http://www.cruisecritic.co.uk/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=19804

Our cabin 4028 had faulty air conditioning and did not drop below 75F for the whole cruise. Despite repeated visits to Customer Services and technicians who 'fixed' it it remained at that temperature.

As OH is always cold even in a heatwave, he hates aircon:o

When we go next week it should not be too hot, but it must be fixed for summer.

As Davetheroad said there are often problems on a first cruise - even the QE2 had them after a refit a few years ago:eek:

Agree we should expect minor problems/ teething problems but

"The ship needs a makeover. Very hot and the bathrooms a bit tired"

When Thomson/TA are selling the Dream as per their advertisement/ 5* cruising, these are not minor problems/teething

As much as the staff get praised I paid for the whole package not just to get bits of it

Waits on RR coming along

My local "First Choice" TA in Glasgow advertised a managers special on board Thomson's Dream - Brand New 5* Ship.

If I did not know any better (due to posts on here) might have been tempted to book later in the year. Having said that are all of their fleet not needing a refurb' of one sort or another :( but it would be nice to travel without the smell of pain unless you are HRH :)

We have booked our 1st ever cruise on the Dream, and already the Dream is becoming a Nightmare! I can't believe after all the hype in the brochure and the promotion video, it sounds as though we have made a massive mistake booking on the Dream.

We too were expecting 5* luxury on this "flag ship" boat. We've paid for 5* luxury and this is what we like from our holidays. We know how to enjoy ourselves in terms of drinking, joining in, etc, etc, but we like good food, good wine and excellent accomodation. I can't believe from what we've heard so far that we're already feeling ripped off days within days of handing over our hard earned thousands.

Depression's setting in.

OMG I feel gutted what with me booking the wrong hotel for our 7 nights stay in Cala bona after the cruise and Thompson telling me despite the 2 hotels being the same price in the brocher they wanted another £700 off me to change hotel that was after the already paid price of 4,500 I am feeling really down this was ment to be a real special holiday for us which is why I paid out, money is tight and I am now thinking I could have been off to the carrabeian, america or whatever I am hoping things really really improve before Aug 10th:(

im hoping that when they get back tomorrow off the first cruise we will hear some positives and it is a few teething problems. even so still feel that thompson have been unfair the way they have advertised the ship .
