Maybaybie10 Posted May 2, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 2, 2010 My husband and I have only cruised once (on our honeymoon in 9/01-yes we were in the middle of the Caribbean during 911!) and we are finally going again 5/8/11. Now since it will have been 10 years, our memories are a little sketchy! He says that drinks are free in the ship's casino like in Las Vegas and I said I didn't think so. Can someone help us out with the answer? For once, I hope I am wrong about this one! Thank you in advance, Melissa

You need to check specifically with each cruise line. Generally speaking in order to receive "free drinks" in the ship's casino, one first has to be registered in the Casino's Player Club. Than after being enrolled in the ships Players Club , you have to reach a certain level of casino spending to receive free drink. If you're a BIG $ Casino Spender and registered in their Players Club you may even qualify for discounts on future cruises depending on the line. If you are not enrolled in the Player's Club or even if enrolled and you haven't met the qualifying $ spend, you will pay for ALL drinks.
OHCruisinDad Posted May 2, 2010 #5 Share Posted May 2, 2010 Only in Vegas or if you are a high roller and a member of the ship's club.

Even in the Scenario you described (which is correct) Melissa is still correct, as those drinks are not FREE by any means;):p:eek::eek:
Havingfun2010 Posted May 2, 2010 #7 Share Posted May 2, 2010 The difference between Vegas, and the ship is simple. On the ship, you are a captive audience, with easy access all day, to stop in whenever you want. In Vegas, you have a huge amount of options, with each option, trying to keep you at their place. So on the ship, everyone would stop in, put a dollar in a slot, get their free drink, and leave, thus saving $4.00+++ each visit. Why would anyone buy a drink, if you can get it free? cb at sea Posted May 2, 2010 #9 Share Posted May 2, 2010 You have to be a VERY heavy bettor to get "free" drinks (and since you're gambling SO much money, it's not truly "free"!)

AvakArm Posted May 2, 2010 #11 Share Posted May 2, 2010 It may have seemed free because of your sail and sign card, especially if you have already had a few drinks. But unfortunately it is not. My husband and I have only cruised once (on our honeymoon in 9/01-yes we were in the middle of the Caribbean during 911!) and we are finally going again 5/8/11. waterbug123 Posted May 2, 2010 #12 Share Posted May 2, 2010 As free as the ones in Vegas. Actually, that's a little inaccurate. To get a free drink on a cruise ship, you have to be betting a LOT of money. In Vegas you can be playing the nickle slots and drink for free. Rare Shippy Posted May 2, 2010 #13 Share Posted May 2, 2010 We have a Club Royale Card & only play .25 & .50 cent machines. However, we do always play max coins & visit the casino every night. We get a free drink every night.
