Ship - Allure of the Seas

Deck - 7

Stateroom # - 7242

Stateroom Category – JS (Junior Suite)

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Yes, very quiet. Rarely heard neighbors and never any outside noise. Didn't even hear anything through the connecting stateroom door unless they were full on shouting.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - Yes, connected to 7244 (who we were sailing with).

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Good view, no obstructions. Deck 7 is somewhat low for an Oasis class (which has balcony rooms from 6th to 14th floors), so I suppose you could get a better view higher up, but I can't say we noticed the position as a problem. I will say, that on a Western Caribbean cruise, the ship ALWAYS docks on the Starboard side. Which means that we never had a view into the cruise port, though we could still see part of Falmouth when docked there because of the port layout. Either way, if we cruise on an Oasis class again, I'll probably try for a Starboard cabin for that reason (7642 would have been the same room on the Starboard side).

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - It is on the aft hump, which means a slightly larger balcony. Beyond that, normal for being a Junior Suite, which is frankly fantastic. We fit 8 people on that balcony, and had even pulled chairs over from the adjoining room. If you are cruising with the people in the room next door, your stateroom attendant can open the glass partition so that you can move between the two balconies. It doesn't make it one big balcony, since the partition still goes a little over halfway to the railing, but it still makes it easy to share chairs and go back-and-forth between rooms.

Was wind a problem? - Nope

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - NA

Any specific problems with this cabin? - None

Any other comments? - Loved being on Deck 7 for its location. One flight of stairs up to get to Central Park; one flight of stairs down to get to Boardwalk; two flights down to get to Royal Promenade. And a pretty short walk to get to the aft elevators/stairs. Only catch was that you can not cross between Port and Starboard sides at the aft elevator station on that deck (though the deck plans say that you can). But wasn't a problem more than once or twice. Being further back in the ship also seemed good, putting you closer to the dining rooms, Boardwalk, Windjammer and Sports activities.

The room itself was pretty much the same as every other JS that we've seen (Oasis and Freedom classes). Love that size room, when we can afford it. Bathroom, bed, and sofa were against the right-hand side as you walked in; closet, desk, and door to 7244 were on the left-hand side. Two US outlets and one European outlet on desk under mirror, plus a hidden US outlet under the bed (closer to the sofa side).

If you've not been in a JS class before, it's a great upgrade. You get treated as a "Suite" during the whole check-in and loading process (special lines & waiting area). You also share the stateroom attendant with the real suites on your floor, who has fewer rooms to do and can spend more time on each. Besides that, you are a normal room. You don't get the "Gold Card" that real suites get and don't get access to the Concierge lounge or special Suite Sun Deck. But if you can get over those minor points, you'll realize you have a more spacious and comfortable room than 90% of your fellow cruisers.

Ship - ANTHEM

Deck - 6

Stateroom # -

6562

Stateroom Category – DO

Starboard or Port Side - STARBOARD

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – near elevator, no cabins across hall, very quiet.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - no

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Balcony described as 75% obstructed. Can easily see the ocean and ports. The top of lifeboat 1 blocks the right side and the metal column holding the lifeboat blocks some of the left part of the balcony. The balcony is deep and easily holds the two chairs with foot rests extended out and a small side table. I did not hear any knocking from the metal or ropes outside.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Seems to be larger than the other balconys.

It sticks out on the side of the shop. Looking towards the aft, the balcony at that side can look into this balcony but it is quite far away. There are solid sides and a roof. Some splash does get on the balcony as it is wet in the morning.

Was wind a problem? - no

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - n/a

Any specific problems with this cabin? - cannot tilt the tv towards sofa, faces bed. Lights at the round mirror in the room are not useful for putting on makeup. Need to use the bathroom mirror for makeup. Two outlets at the desk and two charging ports. Table can be moved. Refrigerator filled with products to purchase. No cabinets in bathroom, all open shelves. Flat screen TV about 40-45". Limited TV stations other than RCL stations. Two kiddy stations, CNN and HLN and a few movie channels.

Any other comments? - Closets are small for a long cruise of 12 days. There is a nighlight in the bathroom that comes on automatically. Bed is closer to the bathroom and the sofa is closer to the balcony.

Ship - Allure of the Seas

Deck - 14

Stateroom # - 14313 and 14311

Stateroom Category – Boardwalk View

Starboard or Port Side - Port side center of ship

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Shows at night on boardwalk were cancelled due to high winds during our cruise, so it was quiet.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - Yes

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – We could see the ocean and the boardwalk -- we liked this room a lot.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Seemed plenty big to us, we had two rooms together and opened the divider.

Was wind a problem? - on the ship yes, we had lots of wind, but not a problem on the balcony.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - no

Any specific problems with this cabin? - no, we liked it. The bed 14311 cabin had a memory foam topper and was so comfy, the bed in our cabin, 14313, did not and was very firm. We were so tired we slept soundly anyway.

We had three teenage boys in one room and two adults in the other. They had twin beds and a pull down bunk bed, there was also a couch under the pull down bunk.

Any other comments? -

My son made a short video from our Eastern Carribean Cruise, at the end is a stop motion from the balcony of 14311. Here is a link:

Ship - Vision of the Seas

Deck - 3

Stateroom # - 3528

Stateroom Category – OV

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – No. We never figured out why, but it was very noisy. Some noise was the party next door late at night, but early am sounded like people were running above us. I was sure it was just a standard cabin above us, and I went up to check. I couldn't figure out they would have the room to get that much running in?? It might have been outside?? Also when we docked it was very loud. I think ropes/anchors must be near our cabin.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - Yes

Was wind a problem? - No, but rough seas and water came up to window. We thought it was cool, but might freak out a few people.

Any specific problems with this cabin? - Except noise, no. Great location

Ship - Freedom of the Seas

Deck - 9

Stateroom # - 9268

Stateroom Category – JS

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Yes, overall. We were right across from a crew service area but we never heard anything. On a few occasions we heard what sounded like chairs being dragged across their balcony. This always seemed to be very very early morning (before 5am). And sometimes it seemed way too long for the size of the balconies. I can't believe it was from up on Deck 11. Thankfully, it was like once each night.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - NO

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – We were just off to the side of the overhanging hot tub. We could see our balcony. There was a slight bump out to our left, but we were not over the center hump. View was great though.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - I thought it was small for a Junior Suite. We only had one recliner, one table and 2 chairs. I've had other JS rooms and we had 2 recliners and the two chairs. I think our Aft balcony on a prior cruise had 2 tables, but that balcony was freakin' huge

Was wind a problem? - not at all

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? -

Any specific problems with this cabin? - None

Any other comments? - We were closer to the fore elevators, but still not that close. It was quite a hike to the aft elevators.

  • 2 weeks later...

Not too many interior reviews so here we go...

Ship - Liberty Of the Seas

Deck - 7

Stateroom # - 7631

Stateroom Category – Promenade View

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Yes! We were two decks above the promenade on the very very end across from guest services. Even with bands playing, the noise was minimal and the blinds kept the light out. Our room was also next to the elevator but that was a non-issue.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Any specific problems with this cabin? - None. at. all. Of course the natural light of a balcony or ocean view room is great but the value is great too.

Any other comments? - I think this is the best promenade vie stateroom on the ship. A major step up from the standard interior rooms. Amazing proximity to elevators. Have a buffer deck on both sides, plus the internet/business center is on 8 by the aft elevators so it gets more foot traffic, so it has a leg up on 8631. Having the little couch on the window is awesome. The couple we cruised with had a superior balcony room with a full couch, but the four of us spent more time in our room because of the extra seating.

Ship - Radiance

Deck - 8

Stateroom # - 8170

Stateroom Category – D1

Starboard or Port Side - Aft

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Very quiet

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? -No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Fantastic unobstructed aft view

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? -

Oversized - deeper balcony with 2 loungers, 2 chairs and a table

Was wind a problem? - No, very sheltered as on aft

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? -No

Any specific problems with this cabin? -No problems at all, wouldn't hesitate to book again

Any other comments? -The balcony has a solid metal divider down one side (the side adjoining 8168) which makes it more private.

Ship - Serenade of the Seas

Deck - 10

Stateroom # - 1086

Stateroom Category – JS

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Quiet Stateroom? – There was some noise during the day. Others have said that it is carts being pushed around in the Windjammer but I'm not convinced that is the case. Had I not been told about it in advance, I would have assumed it was the internal workings of the ship. Either way, it wasn't enough to be bothersome. It didn't keep us up at night or wake us in the morning.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - No obstructions (see photo below)

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - This was my first JS, but I believe the balcony is oversized. The JS balcony next to ours (1084) was much smaller. Ours had a table and two chairs and could easily have fit a lounger.

Was wind a problem? - No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - No

Any specific problems with this cabin? - No

Any other comments? - Has a sofa bed, bathtub and walk in closet. Plenty of room for the four of us who shared the room. Lots of storage - we had empty cupboards and cabinets. The room seems to be getting a bad rap but I have no complaints at all. Would book it again without hesitation.

This was several years ago and so some of this info may be a little outdated now....

Ship - Oasis

Deck - 11

Stateroom # - 1736

Stateroom Category – Crown Loft Suite

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard side but it faces aft

Quiet Stateroom? Yes very quiet inside, but if you want a quiet balcony this is not that  (read my Balcony View comment below)

With comments on problems No problems at all, our room steward was very attentive and congenial and I loved being inside the suite area for its privacy and seclusion

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Our balcony overlooked the sports court and being sports people we liked that. It varied from basketball to volleyball and soccer including some tournaments. And we could also see the flow-riders a little bit. To our right of the court we had a nice panoramic view of the AquaTheater and 2 big screen TV's, plus the sea that surrounded all of that. And the zip line. It was really a great room for people-watching as well as being able to see whatever was playing on the big screens.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? Was undersized for those suites because of the way that the balcony rails curve on both sides of deck 17 aft, but was plenty big enough for two big cushioned lounge chairs plus a lot of walk around space. We didn't feel that it was 'small' at all.

Was wind a problem? - No never

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - No not at all, no strange odors or anything

Any specific problems with this cabin? No was totally Great!!

Any other comments? Loft area has a kingsize bed, extra closet (also closets downstairs), a vanity table and mirror plus a large bathoom with shower that was probably at least 6 feet wide. The crown loft suite was plenty spacious for the 2 of us and even big enough for 2 more adults without being crowded....bigger TV in the living area, long couch and big dining counter/table space. I LOVED the upstairs shower, 3 different types of jets, 1 on each end plus 1 in the middle, and the downstairs bath had a tub and was pretty big as well.....TV over the king size bed that folded up into the ceiling....and those 2-story windows with curtains open gave us a huge vista view of the sea behind us.

Any specific problems with this cabin? - No problems, it was a perfect layout for our family. There was a double bed to the left of the couch area, separated with a privacy curtain. There was a set of bunkbeds in a separate little room and the sofa expanded to another double bed (it folded open like a futon, not like a sofa bed with three folds, and was quite comfortable)

Any other comments? - Great spacious choice for a family. Three large portholes. Plenty of storage. Another bath would have made it perfect.

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? - (With comments on problems) – Yes, pretty much. Sandwiched between passenger decks, so no noise from food venues or pool deck but our neighbours above were pretty loud so we heard them moving quite often.

Ship - Ovation of the seas

Deck - 3

Stateroom # - 3642

Stateroom Category – Accessible

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – On the whole yes, but when the ship is in port it is noisy when they set up the gangplank as this cabin is next to the access on deck 3, when the ship is in port all day long all you hear is "ping"

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Large seaview window

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - No balcony

Was wind a problem? - Only the wife :D

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - No

Any specific problems with this cabin? - Access difficult when in port and the gangplank at the side of this cabin is used.

Any other comments? - Lovely cabin, well set out, lots of storage. It has a third bed which is a settee during the day.

Same as the Anthem of the seas.

Hope this helps
