Rare pierces Posted December 3, 2011 Author #1254 Share Posted December 3, 2011 Do you still have time for a day job??? ;) Sadly, yes. :( A break from woodworking sent me out early today to play with star trails. First try at a image stacking. Only had a few minutes left before dawn today to figure out the intervalometer and get set up. Will try a much longer set tonight. ion-man Posted December 6, 2011 #1255 Share Posted December 6, 2011 You can do no wrong with a camera in your hands Dave lol! Great capture. I tried extracting the EXIF data and unable to do so. Can you provide some info either from this image or especially the upcoming set you propose for tonight? Since it is getting colder down here, I'd like to give stacking a try. Thx. zackiedawg Posted December 6, 2011 #1256 Share Posted December 6, 2011 What's a star trail? Looks funky - all those lines in the sky!* *(He asks sarcastically and rhetorically, because he lives in a part of the country where stars are not visible 99% of the year!). Since it is getting colder down here, I'd like to give stacking a try. Thx. My foes, the cloud family, have the return engagement on hold. Each image was 30s - f/3.2 - ISO 400. I used my Minolta 20mm f/2.8 prime. I solved the continuous shooting issue so the stuttery dots should now stack cleanly into trails. Be sure to turn off long exposure noise reduction. If you dont, it will take an additional 30s dark exposure between shots making the stutter even worse than the one I posted! Good Luck! Justin: I might be willing to trade a few starry nights for your access to wildlife! Dave

TheRoff Posted December 8, 2011 #1264 Share Posted December 8, 2011 Thanks Dave and johneeo. I just might have to admit that the inspiration for the treatment did come from experience. A long time ago when I was much younger, of course. :D Larry

Prairie_Gal Posted December 11, 2011 #1270 Share Posted December 11, 2011 I thought this was just a sculpture, but DH said it was part of a steam locomotive, which is pretty cool because that is a train bridge in the background.

sparky-elpaso Posted December 16, 2011 #1273 Share Posted December 16, 2011 Great shot. Were you watching for the bee or was that just the luck of the draw? I tend not to notice things like that and am sometimes pleasantly surprised when I look at my photos.
Rare pierces Posted December 16, 2011 Author #1274 Share Posted December 16, 2011 You are certainly doing that HX9V justice! I will try to turn the envy and guilt you have inspired in me into pictures this weekend!:D Dave
