CC Charging

Just back from a cruise and found a couple of practices (mistakes?) which are slightly annoying in respect of bills/payment-

We had four accounts with myself as the owner and all other cards linked as users. At the end of the trip, my card had a credit balance and one of the others a debit balance. I had, on purpose, gone to put cash on my account near the end of the trip to ensure no Credit Card charged. On the second last night of the trip, princess put through a credit card authorisation for the outstanding balance. On the last day, they delivered a bill advising they had processed a final charge through my card for the $106 on my wifes card, despite my own card being in credit to balance this off. I spoke to the Purser desk and they agreed to process the $106 refund but would have to do this manually as the accounts were now closed.

Since coming back, the authorisation has hit my account and funds "marked", the $106 charge has hit the card and been taken but the $106 credit has not yet been processed so my account is about $400 down on available credit.

So, two issues - why do princess process an authorisation the second last day and not just once the bills are closed the evening before disembarkation?

Why dont they amalgamage all cards on one account into one balance and take the balance from your CC?

Hi Seb530,

Have had different cards linked to my onboard account linked to CC as I had put casino wins onto my card, when they came to add up they only charged me the small balance.

How were the cards set up.

yours Shogun

Hi seb. Don't know why that's happened. It's just my wife and I on a cruise but we have the cards linked, so if' there's a debit on one and credit on the other, they offset each other. Are you sure you had them all linked? I have never had a problem with this procedure.

Hi there, yes they were linked as I was markes as "owner" and the rest "users". I obtained a couple of print outs throughout the trip and all four came off in one batch with a summary showing the total balance across all four.

Just a mistake I guess but an annoying one. 8 days later and I still have the authorisations on my account and no refund.

Sounds very frustrating. We always travel with four of us all linked to the same card (and only give Princess one card number) and have been fortunate to never have a problem with our billing. Hope it all gets cleared up soon.:)

Don't know about for where you live, but in the USA it takes up to eight weeks for the manual posting of the refund to be accomplished by Princess.

Somehow the automatic charging of the bill is usually accomplished before our flight home has landed.
