B2B cruise in same cabin

Recommended Posts

Recently sort cabin advice and you guys were most helpful so here we go again.

We have a cabin for 2 x 5 nighters (same cabin)

Logically in between cruises:-

  • No necessity to pack and unpack
  • There would be some method of fast-tracking our Sea Pass account for the 2nd cruise, or alternatively when we check in on the first cruise we get our Sea Pass for effectively a 10 night cruise
  • We should not have to leave the ship

Now I appreciate that no. 1 is a likely scenario, but as for checking in for 2nd cruise, is there a short and simple method that does not involve wasting time.

Thank you.

Quite often on B2B cruises the Guest relations desk will either give you your new sea pass card on the last night of the first cruise, or arrange to meet you and other B2bers at an arranged time, when if necessary they will handle the custons procedure with you. Sometimes there is a need for a Zero count on a ship, and therefore you might have to be checked out and back in. On other occassions we have simply stayed in bed. Enjoy your trip.:)

Your seapass card is unique to the cruise, so it won't be for a 10 night, you will have 2 x 5 night. Depending on customs procedures, you may or may not have to get off the ship but you will be notified by Guest Relations.

When you booked your cruise, hopefully you booked with the consecutive cruise desk or your TA did so that they are linked together. You have a booking number for each cruise, so they are handled independently of each other.

Having the same cabin is a plus as there is no need to pack at the end of the first cruise. I suggest that you advise your cabin attendant that you are a consecutive cruiser when you first meet.

After the first cruise your SeaPass account will be closed and a new account started for the next cruise. There is no carry over of any unused OBC or credits from cruise to cruise.

You only have to print one SetSail Pass out, and there is a page where you will indicate if you are a consecutive cruiser or not.

Disembarking the ship on turn around day will depend on the port and Customs and Immigration. Each port handles their consecutive cruisers differently. If you do have to disembark, you will be escorted off by someone from Guest Relations and then escorted back on again.

No need to check in because all of your information will be transferred from the first cruise to the second. You may have to re-take your photo for your SeaPass account..........again, depends on the ship. On Serenade in April, everything was transferred over and we did not have to re-take our Photo.

From my experience, everything Patti said above is accurate (as usual).

I can give you a specific experience from Monarch. B2B guests meet at Guest Relations about 9:30am. Usually within 15 minutes, a Guest Relations officer will escort the B2B guests off the ship, to the front of the customs line. Once through customs, the Guest Relations officer will hand everyone their new Seapass cards, and escort guests back onto the ship. Total time from starting off the ship until back on the ship, less than 15 minutes. No new photos taken.

That was pretty much our experience when we did consecutive cruises on Jewel of the Seas last Fall except that we received our new seapass cards at a brief meeting on the day before the first cruise ended. At that time the entire procedure was explained to us. The process was quick and painless and the consecutive cruisers were treated to a special luncheon in the dining room on the first day of the second cruise. It was a unique and pleasurable experience to have the ship and its facilities available to just us in the hour or two before the new guests began to board.:)

Bill, that was our experience this past April on Serenade. From what we were told the port authorities set the rules for consecutive cruisers and the ship must follow those rules as to how this special set of pax is handled on turnaround day.

On Monarch, Windjammer usually opens for lunch no earlier than 11:30am on embarkation day. Which is the same time the new guests are boarding. So the B2B guests don't get much of a head start, at least for Windjammer lunch.

During the roughly 90 minutes you are on the ship before the new guests start to board, many guest facilities are unavailable, such as the fitness center. Again, this is from Monarch, and probably varies by ship, but we thought we could get in a quick workout during the changeover period, but no luck. However, you do have access to any lounge chair on the pool deck!

I'm not sure if this applies on all ships, but for those passengers doing a B2B there is often a lunch provided in the MDR. The person that handles the Consecutive Cruises onboard will fill you in on the details.

On our recent B2B on the Serenade, we were given our Seapass cards for the second leg of our cruise the night before at our scheduled getogether with the other B2Bers. The next day we had to meet at the top of the gangway at 10:00 to have our "old seapasses" run through and we were on our way. No leaving the ship or going through customs. So Easy!

What happens if you don't have the same cabin? What do we do with the luggage? etc. etc.:)

If you have to move on turnaround day, your cabin attendant will move things hanging in your closet. Anything loose in drawers or toiletries will have to be packed and then your cabin attendant will move your luggage to your new cabin.......or that has been our experience with friends that have had to change cabins.

If you feel more comfortable moving your things yourself, you can also do that on turnaround morning.

It is a good idea on day one of your first cruise to let your cabin attendant know that you are consecutive cruisers but you will be changing cabins. It is also a good idea to go and introduce yourselves sometime during the first cruise to the person that will be your cabin attendant on the second part of your consecutive cruise.

It really is a smooth transition.

That depends upon you AND whether or not you have made contact w/ your 'new' room steward. That is, during our first 'portion' of our B2B we worked w/ our 'current' steward as well as our 'new' steward to make sure both knew about the 'change' as well as putting in place the 'process'. ;) All went flawlessly, but a lot of that was because we made sure all knew what was about to happen. ;) It is up to what you 'decide' what happens....Don't assume, make sure you know what the 'process' will be!!!

Last January we did a B2B on the Seranade,On the last night of the first week we had a meeting with the other guest and the Ambassidor. We were to meet at the pursers desk at 1000.When we arrived they asked our names and we were giving our new seapasses. Then we told to meet at the MDR for a special B2B lunch. We also kept our same room.

We will be doing the same week again in January,B2B.

We are booked as back to back on Serenade, but I don't think our TA booked through a consecutive cruise desk; we have two separate booking numbers. If you book as two separate cruises, you get two separate C&A balcony discounts for the cruise. Is this still true if it's done as consecutive?

I am also booked on a b2b but I have two different reservation numbers. Will Guest Relations and/or cabin steward know we are doing a b2b or will we have to notify them ourselves? Will the process be the same for us as for the other b2b's. Thanks for your replies

Hi Cindy

Yes, you will have two res # as they are considered two individual cruises. RCI should have you "linked" in their system as B2B. For peace of mind, you can either call RCI or check once onboard with Guest Relations.

Any time you book a consecutive cruise you book them as individual cruises as they will always have their own booking number and their own final payment date. Each cruise will qualify for its own individual benefits. After booking, it is then you should have them linked.

When you fill out your SetSail Pass on the Arrival/Departure page you will indicated if you are doing a consecutive cruise. Plus, you fill out your SetSail Pass for both cruises, but you only need to print off the first one as everything is automatically transferred. If you need to change credit card information you can just do that at Guest Relations.

Once on board when the first cruise is over your SeaPass Account will be closed and a new one started. There is no carry over of OBC from one cruise to the next.
