No Royal Caribbean ship has laundry facilities.

Believe me, they come handy in 15+ cruise days, like the ones in Princess or HAL, Royal Caribbean is usually shorter trips

I go on 15+ cruise days on Royal Caribbean and Celebrity and the ship laundry works out wonderfully. Why in the world would I want to do laundry when I am on vacation??

They will have a "bag" special. Stuff everything this plastic bag will hold and they do it for a fixed price ($20-$25). Nice not to have to worry about spending nice time away from vacation and doing laundry. If something is terribly wrinkled and Downey and a quick steam in the bathroom won't fix it, get it pressed. Pressed only is half the price of getting it laundered. We LOVE it!!!

This is why we love it too. Then EVERYONE is on vacation!

As well stated, no they do not. However, pressing service is only a dollar-something per garment. It's very cheap. Dry cleaning is only a couple dollars more.

Why would you want to do that? You're on vacation!!! Enjoy it...:D

Here's our reason: one member of our family is allergic to most laundry detergents. The only detergent we use at home is an allergen-free type. And we try to keep down our luggage as much as possible (well, hubby wants to), so on any cruise seven days or longer (especially if we're also traveling to the embarkation port), a self-service laundry is a must. Which is one reason we usually go on Princess.

The truth is that I never "want" to do laundry. However, I'd rather do a load of laundry once in a while and pack less. We don't generally like the ship laundry services. We don't think they're particularly reasonable, but more than that, they do not offer "hang to dry" or similar services, which quite a bit of our hot weather clothing needs. (Confession: I actually don't do the laundry. My wonderful DH does it and he does a great job of it. That's why I don't mind giving him a "break" if we're on vacation and a bit of laundry needs washing or something needs pressing.)

Here's a link to the prices:

As you can see, it's rather a bit more than $1/garment for things that most people would want pressed. I mean really, I don't iron our socks, underwear, or hosiery at home, so I'm sure not going to pay to have it done on vacation. But the things we would have pressed seem to be in the range of $2 to $5. Washing-pressing is only a couple of dollars more and dry cleaning is anywhere from 2 times to 3 times as much as plain pressing. Many people think it's a great deal, especially the "stuff a bag full" specials, but we're just not wild about it. I will say that the couple of things we've had washed or cleaned (such as when the "permanent" ink the cruise line used bled on my light pink shirt) have come back in perfect condition.

Now that is an excellent reason.

We only do carry on luggage whenever we travel. Was in Europe for a Baltic cruise and business for 3 1/2 weeks in May. Both DH and I only had carry on. And yes we did 3 formal nights.

I guess an allergy would be a different reason for the necessity. We're very fortunate that we don't have that problem. We go through LOTS of underwear. I can re-wear a pair of shorts one night in the Promenade, or the casino and wear them on an excursion later in the week, but we go through multiple changes of underwear per day. We buy t-shirts on the ship and in the ports so we don't pack as many t-shirts as we know we will need. Formal wear goes to the dry cleaner when we return. I hate ironing, and if given a choice, I will just wear wrinkles rather than iron. Downey Wrinkle Release goes at the top of our packing list. Before discovering cruising, we would go to a condo and there it was..the dreaded washer and dryer . This is one of the guilty pleasures that has become a cruise tradition. We pack light because of the above "rule" with shorts and t-shirts, then get the bag of laundry. It makes it possible for us to pack even less because we send all the underwear and some of the favorite shorts or whatever to the laundry. I also pack multiple khaki shorts that "match" whatever top I grab. I'm a simple gal.
