Toto2Kansas Posted September 15, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 15, 2010 Has anyone had any experience with receiving welcome aboard packages/perks from Ocean Players Club or Gracie? Thank you in advance Although I spend a LOT of time and money (sometimes I win, sometimes I don't) in the casino, I have never received a welcome packet from the players club. As for perks, if you gamble a LOT then the casino host/hostess may buy you a drink or two, but don't look for much else on Princess.
Richie2pies Posted September 15, 2010 #5 Share Posted September 15, 2010 The casino on a ship has you trapped. It's not like you can go next door or down the street. They don't have to give squat! I wonder if their slots even payback 50%?
99Cruiser Posted September 15, 2010 #6 Share Posted September 15, 2010 On my last cruise the casino manager comped all my drinks anytime I was in the casino. They also sent bottles of wine to the dining room and dipped strawberries to my cabin. I was in the casino about 4 hours a day and my average bet was probably around $150 per hand of blackjack. Maybe that's the trick? Bet at least $150 a hand in blackjack and you will receive some perks. Let's just say betting that high, I would hope they gave you something. ;)

99Cruiser Posted September 15, 2010 #10 Share Posted September 15, 2010 They didn't have single deck but they did have a $25 min. table they would open for me so I wasn't playing with all the people that have no idea what they are doing. To say the least I was usually the only one sitting at that table. I was told by the casino manager I was the biggest gambler on the ship. I'm a regular in Vegas and usually even play more than that when I go there.

LAC2 Posted September 15, 2010 #12 Share Posted September 15, 2010 Has anyone had any experience with receiving welcome aboard packages/perks from Ocean Players Club or Gracie? Thank you in advance Actually, we registered with the Ocean Players Club before our 11/2005 Mexican Riviera 10-day cruise and received an order of the Chocolate Dipped Strawberries. They were delivered right after we boarded the ship and included a very nice welcome greeting from the Ocean Players Club. Guess we were extremely lucky! At least in strawberries. Didn't win a dime in the casino the whole trip. (We don't make use of the $25 min. tables, nor the $150 table.)

If the cruise would have been a 5 day cruise I was up almost $4k....BUT, it was a 7 day cruise and ended up down about $1k. The last 2 days really killed me in there. Rare Hlitner Posted September 16, 2010 #15 Share Posted September 16, 2010 We have also played more then our share of Blackjack (on ships and in Vegas) and always are amused at players who get angry at novices (or bad players) who do the "wrong" thing. You will hear some players whine, "he took my card" or "he should have taken this lousy card" and it is all typical gamblers BS, but always make the tables amusing. We have gambled at some cruise ship tables where the table entertainment was so good we didn't care whether we won or lost. Sadly, we know longer go into Princess casinos because we have taken a personal pledge to never pay for the the right to smell cigarette smoke. mycruz Posted September 17, 2010 #16 Share Posted September 17, 2010 My last cruise in March to Hawaii was the first time I had the casino manager comp me any drinks. She really was a pleasant manager, the first one that actually made it a point to meet me and called me by name whenever I was there. Sadly, because of all the smoke I came down with a horrible case or larygitis and the ships Dr. banned me from the casino! Oh well, I was up a little at that point and went shopping in the jewelry store!:D
taschwab53 Posted September 17, 2010 #17 Share Posted September 17, 2010 I have won $1000.00, $4000.00 (a couple times) and an $8000.00 jackpot on the $1.00 video poker. I received an email from the Players Club a while back where I was given $300.00 casino credit towards my next cruise and was comped dinner for myself and husband at Sterling Steakhouse, a couple bottles of wine in our room and comped drinks in the casino. I can't say I always win but I am ahead.

I have won some nice jackpots the last 5 years or so, but nothing like your $8000 win all at one time. Congrats on that one! Now they are keeping track on your spending through your casino bank, it won't surprise me if someday soon they don't catch up to the rest of us. The best offer I have gotten from Princess is $500 casino credit on one of their gambling cruises.

For table play they never see your cruise card, and unless you ask to be rated, they have no idea of who you are. I'm not talking about friendliness, just about whether they can really track you. Of course you are correct about table play Andy. But with the slots, they do keep track now. It is one way the casino host knows exactly how much you have played, they can see it on the read out. That is also how they know your name when they walk up to you playing the slots, it also shows there. ;)

WeBeGone Posted September 17, 2010 #23 Share Posted September 17, 2010 We occasionally get a free drink, and once got a letter offering casino credit if we booked a specfic cruise date (which we didn't). Back in 2002 we got free tee shirts and a tote bag but I can't remember why.

Mary in Maine Posted November 20, 2010 #25 Share Posted November 20, 2010 I play penny slots but I play a lot while on board. Last month I cruised on a special offering $250 in cash (came by e-mail) upon arrival at the casino and free entry into a slots tournament. The casino sent me a bottle of champagne but no free drinks in the casino. Last year, the casino gave me free drinks and a tote bag. Right now there's a $450 cash offer for an April 2011 sailing (came by mail) but I'm already booked for February. I don't think I ever signed up for anything on line and I've never asked for anything. I don't know how you find out about special offers but I'm going to check it out.
