RichNY Posted September 28, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 28, 2010 Its official, unfortunately we wont be tendering into St Geroge's..:( http://www.royalgazette.com/rg/Article/article.jsp?articleId=7da9e333003001e§ionId=
Krazy Kruizers Posted September 28, 2010 #2 Share Posted September 28, 2010 Thanks for the information. Keeping up with the reports I didn't see how the Bermudian would be fixed and able to be used as a tender for these last 2 cruises. Wonder why the ship's tenders can not be used? Do they not line up properly at the pier?
peaches from georgia Posted September 28, 2010 #3 Share Posted September 28, 2010 I think the ship's tenders are too small to take pax from out in the ocean where the ship is into St Georges in a reasonable amount of time and safety in open water. It is a pretty long way and it would take forever to get all the pax to shore and back.

I would have started that sentence "Fortunately, we won't be tendering..." :)

No loss! It is about time that both HAL and the Bermudian government realized that the tendering process has not worked well and instead cruise directly to Hamilton, (to remain for three days), where passengers could be given ?bus/taxi vouchers to travel to St. George's, if they so desired!:)

The tender won't be in service because its damaged.....Have you been adversely effected by the tendering process ????

I also think that the Bermudian government might require a pilot for each of the ships tenders to navigate the "Cut"..

AH -- there we go -- pilots to navigate the cut!! I do remember pilots coming aboard the Westward and the old Pacific Princess when we went into St Georges. Thanks for remindning me. RuthC Posted September 28, 2010 #14 Share Posted September 28, 2010 Was that a resounding "yes!!!!!!"?;) YES!!!!!! I'm doing mental cartwheels here! Now it will be comparatively easy to get to St. George.

And from my experience in tendering between the ship and Lahaina, the water can be VERY choppy!:)

Personally enjoyed and had no problems with the tendering process on the Vendam. Re another question: It's also been posted that the Bermuda government does not allow the ship to use it's own tenders to transport passengers to St. George's. More likely, the latter. As you know, there are quite a few who haven't been on board Veendam since the re-do, and they jump on the "I hate the Retreat/stern appendage/Lanai cabins/St Georges tendering bandwagon ...
