guyver Posted September 29, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 29, 2010 Absolutely. Full out premium package!!:D I don't scrimp while cruising and when you consider water, specialty coffees / drinks, I am usually spending this much or more anyway. And it would be nice not getting writer's cramp from all of the required signing.

LadyBerard Posted September 30, 2010 #9 Share Posted September 30, 2010 I would buy the premium package for my husband and myself......no doubt about it, just as we will for our November 2011 sailing on the Silhouette.

Rare sparks1093 Posted September 30, 2010 #13 Share Posted September 30, 2010 We wouldn't buy any of the plans because we don't drink enough to warrant the expense (well, I could probably drink enough in one day to justify one day's worth but after that I'd need like, a month to recover:eek:.) Liquid Shiva Posted September 30, 2010 #14 Share Posted September 30, 2010 Husband would take take the soda package, I would take none. I'll drag about 30 bottles of glaceau vitamin water onboard with me. I love those, and you can't get those in Holland (so drinking them every day while in the States) I buy water ashore, and while I love my margaritha's and bottle of wine at dinner (sharing that with hubby), I don't think I'll drink 686 dollar away on my next 14 day cruise. Husband drinks two to three glasses of wine per day, and a cocktail here and there, he's not drinking enough for the 49 dollars either.

CruisinMaterial Posted September 30, 2010 #16 Share Posted September 30, 2010 Wow! I would have to drink myself silly in order to get $49 worth of premium spirits. I realize a Grey Goose and Sprite is $7.76 per drink but that's how many in one day??? 6! That's madness... even at my best night's in the disco it never goes over 3. Package prices would have to be a bit more moderate for me to do that. :)

I would consider it, even with drinks limits at $25 a day, but not $50 or $60.00. i just figured out, including 1/2 bottle of wine a day for dinner, a bottle of scotch in our cabin, a drink or so extra daily per person and a couple of bottles of wine in our cabin which we pay the corkage fee on, we probably spend about $50 to $60 for both of us on liquor and I consider us moderate drinkers. Nita It's not all liquor though. Some of the packages (i.e. $16, include frozen n/a drinks, smoothies, red bull, fresh squeezed juices, soda by the can, evian, etc) and would be GREAT for kids too. While mom and dad have a colada, the kids could have a n/a version. I think that at about $100 a week, that's a steal for kids (and many adults). Planer's Edge Posted September 30, 2010 #21 Share Posted September 30, 2010 If NCL were to implement something like this, I would hope that they spend the time to educate their servers on when and how to cut people off and also give them the authority to do so. But, I doubt that would happen. PE
NEW 2 CRUISIN Posted September 30, 2010 #22 Share Posted September 30, 2010 I think it would be great for NCL to offer these packages to those who want a more "all-inclusive" feel to budgeting and enjoying their cruise. I voted "no" in the poll for me personally because I have never spent that much per day on alcoholic OR non-alcoholic beverages per day on a cruise. We drink iced tea at home all the time, and get the same on the ship. We have always taken advantage of the option to just buy a bottle for $60 from the Group Event Department and bring our own mixers, where available. Most of our drinking on our cruises is - ironically - done on land in the port bars and restaurants or during our shore excursions! Great plans for those who wish to pay for them though -- seems to fit right in with the "free-style" theme too! Buy it or don't! :)
Cruisin'cockney Posted September 30, 2010 #23 Share Posted September 30, 2010 As much as I like NCL the lack of availability of these type of packages has always been a bit annoying from my point of view. I would certainly happily pay $15pppd for a n/a package. Also, how about an "access all areas" restaurant package whereby a daily premium is paid to be able to dine in any restaurant on the ship! Would happily pay $20pppd for the ability to freely choose what restaurant I dined in without having to worry about cover charges. $35pppd gets you unlimited n/a drinks and a free choice of restaurants. MMastell Posted September 30, 2010 #24 Share Posted September 30, 2010 I just contacted group events to order a bar setup for my cabin. The price for a Crown Royal and a bottle of Patron would be $250. This is about $90 more than it was a year and half ago. Also there are no sodas included in the package. At least on Celebrity the Crown Royal is $100 but it includes six sodas and a box of nuts. At $250 for two bottles of liquor (which I doubt will be completely consumed) and the other bar and soda charges it would easily hit the charge of the premium drink package. With these prices it pushes you toward a drink package or even smuggling. I would take a premium drink package. Take care, Mike
spacewoman Posted September 30, 2010 #25 Share Posted September 30, 2010 I like the idea of package deals because you could pre-pay all this stuff before you cruise. That way you only need some spending money for casino or buying goodies in port. It would be nice not to have to go to the purser's desk every few days to keep an eye on what we're spending. I priced a Rye whiskey for $63 for hubby. He said by the time you buy sodas the price is ridiculous. Absolut was $83. I looked for drink specials like $4.25 margaritas and 2 for 1 martinis. Those specials had catches though - the martinis you had to choose from a list of 6 and I think the margaritas were a choice of 4. I think a lot of folks could question the value of a package also if you know you're going to be off the ship for most of the day at each pier. If you're spending money in bars off the ship you're definitely not going to get your money's worth. For us it's worth it but I can definitely see someone abusing it to where the cruise line is now dealing with people drunk off their fanny. For someone like my mom who barely spent $150 the whole cruise, it's not worth it. But hey - it's freestyle where you're free to do --- whatever:)
