Please stop bashing Carnival

After a one month hiatus from visiting cruisecritic.com, I still notice the constant flow of dissatisfaction with Carnival Cruse Lines. I still read about how "some" still complain about an extra fee for eating a premium meal , those who attempt to sneak on alcohol and then complain when their alcohol is confiscated or a post of a letter from an ex-Carnival employee who after only two months of employment with Carnival trashed Carnival regarding unspecified charges that naturally Carnival can’t defend themselves. I truly can’t understand all the hostile post placed on this web site towards Carnival. Naturally some complaints are justified, but it appears to me that a majority of complaints are initiated by fellow patrons who just don’t fully understand the cruise industry and that Carnival is only providing a service for a fee and attempts to make a profit for services rendered.

As I previously posted, I love sailing Carnival and still believe that Carnival provides an EXCELLENT product especially for the fee they charge as compared to other cruise lines. Lets face it, as the economy improves, prices charged by the cruise industry will also increase and for those unwilling to pay a fair price for a cruise and tries to skimp every corner in order to pay less, in my opinion, shouldn’t be cruising !

Carnival lowered the price of cruising. Now you are going to get the crowd you are talking about.

 

I want free this and free that while wearing my ball cap, flip flops, robes , shorts etc to dinner. Then beotching about why you charging me for the good stuff.

I for one do not want to read jsut the good, in fact I am more interested in the bad, than the good because that helps me make an informed decision.

With free speech comes responsible and truthful speech and a lot of the negative remarks made against Carnival are untruthful.

 

 

Most negative remarks are opinions. Not statement of facts.

Totally agree with the prior post and I apologize if I didn’t get my main point across which is that Carnival could never remain the largest cruise company in the world if they didn’t do something right. It appears to “ME” that our ethnocentristict American culture has evolved with expectations of service beyond those of other cultures. “Some” Americans expect exemplary levels of service although they attempt to compensate for services rendered for as little as possible. If you are looking for the perfect cruise, then hop on Cunard and pay four times as much! For me I’d rather take four weekly Carnival cruises as opposed to one on Cunard.

After 5 Carnival cruises and yet a 6th coming, I have never had an unsatisfactory cruise.

Last cruise we missed a port, but hey, wasn't Carnivals fault, yeah they could have done something different perhaps, but hey, a guy had a medical emergency. Oh well. What can you do.

Of course, you get what you pay for and my expectations, well, there are none.

I don't expect perfection in anything in life and am satisfied with the CCL cruise experience, and I've been a CCL customer since the first yrs of CCL. Is it the most elegant-no, but then neither am I. It is agreat vacation at a great price. People like to complain-period, I just read a post that's basically complaining about complaining. I feel fortunate each time I cruise. I will admit that on some cruises thing have not been perfect but then what in life is always perfect. I am so looking forward to my upcoming cruises and what people wear, say, do or drink doesn't mean a thing to me. I just love the time with my husband and family.

If everybody posted just positive stuff, Cruise Critic would be boring, PLUS it would be deserted! Nobody would even bother logging on!

 

As others mentioned, I actually benefit more from the negative stuff, and I've made some decisions based on things that people have posted here that you would NEVER find on Carnival's pretty website (or any other cruise line for that matter)

I love reading cruise critic whether it is good or bad. It is like a restaurant when they first open up they do everything right and then as time goes by they start to slip and less and less people eat there and before you know it, they close. ( any one heard of a restaurant PO FOLKS, great country cooking) anyways I truly think each cruise line has someone reading this comments. So they need to know what people are thinking, what comsumers needs and wants are. Does not mean we will always agree. We can agree to disagree. I personally LOVE Carnival, do they mess up sometimes yes but no where as bad as RCCL with me. This might be totally opposite for someone else. We all have different likes and dislikes.

Yes, I remember Po Folks. Our kids loved it; so did DH and I. I think there is another aspect, finances. As times are tight businesses tighten the budget and make adjustments. The companies that adjust in the correct areas will continue to succeed. Those that adjust incorrectly will not.

 

I think the cruiselines are going thru these adjustments and when the economy gets better, we might see less complaining.

I had someone Friday night that said they had been on 2 cruises and they hate Carnival. :rolleyes: That just ruffles my panties cuz you can't judge any cruiseline as bad based on 1 or 2 cruises to compare. I've been on 4 Carnival cruises and 1 next week and I haven't had a bad cruise yet. I had worst service on my one NCL cruise and I didn't enjoy karaoke on my one RCI cruise, but in all fairness, I've only sailed NCL & RCI once so I really am not one to bash either line. All I know is I have yet to have a bad cruise on Carnival and I have more Carnival to compare. I've enjoyed all my Carnival cruises and had total fun so CARNIVAL HERE I COME BABY!

CC is nothing compared to some of the Vegas forums I read. When ever a new casino or restaurant or show would open there would always be a group that would declare that the new venue wouldn't last out the year and don't go there it's a waste of money blah, blah, blah. They were always wrong but that never stopped them from making their comments.

A sad statement but true. And why people still continue to compare Cruising now, to what it was 20 or 30 years ago is beyond me.

 

I can compare cruising today to cruising 20 or 30 years ago. Even 40 years ago. and I can compare mass market cruising with upscale lines as well.

Biggest difference, the ships are much larger. The service is not as professional, willing, but just not as professional.

Upscale lines, just not as much fun as mass market lines.

 

What is gone today? Free sodas in the MDR and the disgusting fruit punch that gave kids a sugar overload.

What's optional today? Many, many things that were not free in the old days, they just weren't available.

Oh, I forgot, no skeet shooting and no hitting golf balls into the sea. Blame the tree huggers for that. No GALA midnight buffet. still plenty of free food, just no food for photos to be thrown away. [the food, and probably a lot of the photos.]

I agree that a MESSAGE BOARD is a place for discussion... of the good AND bad experiences. However, some people could use a little more tact when talking about their bad experiences. And some people shouldn't take a negative perspective so personally and call it "bashing".

 

Is it so hard to realize that not everyone LOVES Carnival the way alot of us do? And some of us love Carnival so much that the good things FAR outweigh the bad things.

 

It would be no different than doing a thread on "Lasagna". Some people love it. Some people hate it. Some people like it, but wish it was a little different in some way. Some people eat it & like it, but maybe wanna try something else next time. Would you get upset over someone not liking lasagna???? Or would you defend it to the death???

 

I just don't see where people get SO upset either way lol. Discussion is healthy, even if you happen to disagree.

 

Carnival is a "product". Some people will love it, some will hate it. Some like it, but have a few opinions about things to do differently. Some will move on to another cruise line. What's the big deal?

 

Out of approximately 250,000 CC members (and who knows how many more that read the boards that haven't signed up), you're going to have not only different opinions, but different ways of expressing those opinions.

 

Someone wants to be nasty & make rude comments? Let 'em. How does it really effect you? Move on to the next thread & let those kind of people "have at it"! Just my opinion
