EVALUATOR Posted October 11, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 11, 2010 So what they did on Christmas Day in 1492, with the Santa MAria, in Haiti, at Cape Haitien, near Labadee, was probably why RCI decided to build a dock in Labadee, right? As Yukon Cornelius said LAND HO!!!

NordicPrince Posted October 11, 2010 #12 Share Posted October 11, 2010 Inquiring minds really want to know how long it took Cristobal Colon (aka Christopher Columbus) to make Diamond +;)! Happy Columbus Day all! Only us Italians celebrate that his given name was Cristoforo Columbo from Genoa Italy. All this other stuff is just to satisfy revisionist history and make it fit to various cultures except the original one. Can you imagine trying to get a crew to sign a contract these days which would state that there is a high probability of not returning except for the word of the Captain that this would not occur? Better give more than a 15% gratuity on that one.
cruise wizard Posted October 11, 2010 Author #13 Share Posted October 11, 2010 I heard that none of the three ships had specialty restaurants, spas, hot tubs, flow riders, rock climbing walls, carousels, concierge lounges, promenades, towel animals......what a bummer!!!! But the price was right - only a few pieces of eight (balconies slightly higher).

read52 Posted October 11, 2010 #16 Share Posted October 11, 2010 Columbus..pff.. You should thank Leiv Eiriksson/Leif Ericson:) The problem with Leif Ericson was that they decided that they did not like this side of the world so they went back home and told everyone how bad the food was. cruise wizard Posted October 11, 2010 Author #19 Share Posted October 11, 2010 Come to think of it - those ships had the first Aqua Theatre's with high diving acts......I believe that they called it "walking the plank". Here's a revelation - I now know where the idea for having pirate pictures in the main diningroom came from....arrrrr!!!!

The Flying Pirate Posted October 11, 2010 #21 Share Posted October 11, 2010 Columbus..pff.. You should thank Leiv Eiriksson/Leif Ericson:) I agree the Vikings got their first, Columbus just had a better PR agent. My Grandma used to make Lutefisk and I swear the smell alone could take paint off the walls. But then while she was a wonderful lady, she was a terrible cook, as Grandpa always said, "She could burn water and make it smoke"
