We also returned from Eurodam today and had good time. Eurodam is a terrific ship, we had fabulous weather, wonderful crew....... Very much enjoyed ourselves. They really try so hard to give everyone the best cruise possible. Excellent crew!@!!!

This was a perfect cruise weatherwise. We were amazed how the ship handled the gale force winds each day without any rocking and rolling. Same with the Westerdam last year when we couldn't tender at HMC. Service was fabulous. Food good. Booked The Niew Amsterdam for the 2011 Fall TA.

One snag was the embarkation lunch in the MDR. HAL needs to determine how much of a perk this is, as inconsistency reigns. We were originally told the upper MDR. Maitre'D said we needed a slip of paper for entrance. Showed him our 3 * cards. Reluctantly seated us. Never saying that it wasn't a mariners event. At end we were each asked to give $5 to the dining staff. Why?? Found out later that this was for a charity of some sort. At no time did the maitre'd tell us this even when we approached the lower MDR. Hotel Services Captain told us later that the upper MDR wasn't for the Mariners. We think this is a nice perk and that HAL should make it easier for the Mariners to use it. Westerdam last year had a delightful Indonesian embarkation luncheon. Noordam is April so-so. Next year on the NA we will have to make sure where the luncheon is as the staff sometimes don't know this is a perk and act accordingly. . We received our 100 day medallions on this cruise just so you know HAL is our favorite line. The above is for info only. Cruise Director Jason Vennor mentioned that HAL is very aware of all of our comments. So that is why I am writing. Would like to hear other similar tales.

The Dining Room Manager did not realize you were embarking guests.

Eurodam was hosting a luncheon to benefit a children's charitable organization. Either he didn't hear what you said to him or confusion occured for some reason but the participants boarded just before any guests (we were right beside them as they prepared to board and are familiar with the group). The Luncheon guests were with an HAL host/escort. It seems Dining Room Manager thought you were part of that group and had roamed off separate from them.

We positively LOVE that HAL is always so involved in fund raising and benefits for worthy charitable organizations. They are a hugely charitably conscious company and I applaud them for that.

We were present in Queen's Lounge when you received your Copper Medallion. Congratulations!!! Wasn't that a nice event just before the luncheon. Jason did a great job IMO (as did Captain and Hotel Manager).

Have to agree on the communication. 4 of us were at the desk and the maitre'd must have had the charity in his mind. Still don't know why HAL doesn't do a better job with the embarkation lunch. To me it is a hi-lite. To relax after the wait and anticipation of boarding. Minor rant. Glad to hear you were there. Looking forward to future cruises and meeting you again. Your total postings must exceed the sum total of at least 5000 CCers. Vast knowledge on HAL. We sure appreciate your blogs. Doing the Venice Farewell on the NA in Oct 2011, maybe we'll see you. Thanks for the of congrats and yes, Jason is a good entertainer. The Captain and Hotel Manager must be the 2 biggest guys in the HAL hierarchy. I felt I was back with my basketball team on that stage.
