marne001 Posted November 2, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 2, 2010 If you have an NAUGHTY room experiences, please share them here and demistify Mr/Ms security's inquisition of our luggage. We do not smuggle, but I told DH that I read about the naughty room on CC. He thought it might be a kinky experience offer by CCL for a fee. Hey, before flaming me, Princess has the Rasoul Ritual for couples...where you are locked into this fabulous sauna, COOL shower (choice of music, scent and shower blast) plus huge tub, and of course the "special" mud (you can eat that crap) to slather on each other. DH envisioned a police interrogation room, replete with bad fluorescent lights and handcuffs, etc...after twenty years he is still very interesting person with a VIVID and active imagination. salty dingo Posted November 2, 2010 #6 Share Posted November 2, 2010 In Carnival's version of the Naughty Room, you are locked in a small cabin with a drunken Freddie the Funnel, who kicks you in the rear with those big padded feet.

divinmule Posted November 2, 2010 #8 Share Posted November 2, 2010 My Naughty room experience was not near that much fun. It was simply them makin me unlock my luggage to remove my multi-outlet extension cord. I had taken it on 3 previous cruises but I guess this time it was a no-no. Oh well we got by without it...just kept unplugging the clock anytime I needed the outlet. At least she didn't take the rum-runners that were also in that bag..that would have been sad.;)

GRAMMYTAN Posted November 2, 2010 #10 Share Posted November 2, 2010 When we took the family on a group cruise a couple of years ago, by DD (her first cruise) brought along a small rolling cooler, no ice, just bottled water, which she checked in with her luggage. She had packed some small bottles of booze in her bag. Security pulled her from line, just before we boarded and walked her away. She just knew it was the booze in her bag, but they told her the rolling cooler was too big and confiscated it until after the cruise and she could pick it up on return. It was a softside cooler approx. 16x16x16, the limit is 12x12x12 now. They said nothing about the stashed booze.
mss22859 Posted November 2, 2010 #11 Share Posted November 2, 2010 Last month on the Liberty, I got the dreaded letter on day 1. Had to go before Dinner and unlock suitcase. Security asked me if I had anything inside, I said alcohol. I was asked "how much", I answered, "1 bottle". Took my DS's bottle of Grey Goose for the week. But my 2 Rum Runners made it through no problem, Lol!:)

hubofhockey Posted November 2, 2010 #14 Share Posted November 2, 2010 I might have to switch to princess! I love Princess and their attitude about liquor. But I still pay more in total for my vacations on Princess than on Carnival. I don't mind paying more for Princess because the value is there and it is nice to be able to pick up wine at any port the ship stops and just bring it on board. I don't think Carnival will adopt the same policies and enforcement of policies as Princess does because the passengers skew younger and they tend to have more problems with drinkers. Sorry for a brief highjack... but can you expand on Princess & their attitude about liquor? Are their "rules" very different? Thanks!
airhead22 Posted November 2, 2010 #16 Share Posted November 2, 2010 My sister had to go because of my daughters bag. We had the rooms booked to meet age requirements. Her sail and sign made an awful noise and she was escorted off the ship, wondering what the hell my 25 year old wild child had packed. It was a pair of scissors, or rather very large shears, in case her hair needed a touch up. Sister gladly got back on the ship without them. First time - Victory, San Juan port October 2009- lost my extension cord and a small pair of pliers we brought to tighten the wheels on the suitcase that kept coming loose. (the extension cord-POTENTIAL to plug in things, and the pliers - TOOLS of the trade - of course I am a Nurse and we don't use pliers in our trade) Second time - Dream, Port Canaveral May 2010 - called down because there was a question of one of the bottles of liquid in our checked luggage (checking for alcohol in bottles other than liquor bottles) The funny thing was that I had a hairspray bottle with hairspray and a mouthwash bottle with mouthwash - what did they wish to examine VERY CLOSELY?? - a 4 oz bottle of think pink liquid called cherry flavored Pepto bismol The involve 4 different people over 10 minutes to verify that it was not Irish Cream with a little red food coloring. I did get to keep it, but I had all I could do not to giggle with each official Carnival person who came over to make this executive decision regarding 4 ozs of Pepto bismol. Plus even if it was liquor, why would they bother with 4 oz anyway? ...When we were on the Splendor last month, I packed Pepto bismol tablets to be safe.:o
Earthworm Jim Posted November 5, 2010 #23 Share Posted November 5, 2010 If you are asking what the Carnival "naughty room" is actually like, it's just a room off the main hallway on deck 1 (crew deck) that has a counter to open the suitcases and a row of the suspicious luggage waiting for their owners to show up. They have chairs out in the hallway to wait your turn and you go into the room one person at a time to open your bag for inspection. In my case, I guess they were just suspicious because it was locked, because there was nothing at all in that suitcase except clothes. No other items at all that could have looked questionable to them on the x-ray. I opened it, they asked what I had in there, I said nothing but clothes. They felt around inside, found nothing but clothes, and sent me on my way. I can't complain about it though. I knew that was the risk I was taking by locking my bag. You do feel like everyone who sees you down there assumes you are a smuggler. But in reality the crew sees smugglers every week and really doesn't care, and any other passengers down there where presumably smuggling suspects themselves, so I shouldn't have felt as self-conscious as I did.
