NCTribeFan,

I don't expect to start my review until next week, but I do have the pics all online now and just need to go back and pick room and ship pics for those albums. CLICK HERE for Carnival Pride pics then click on whatever day's album you wish to view.

I have uploaded some videos to YouTube; Be FOREWARNED that I my video editing skills are poor. You can tell by watching the videos that I know squat about my GoPro, but I am learning as I go.... You can also tell that I have a long way to go before I'm ready to combine them all into one vacation video which I do plan to do.... So far I have converted video up to Jack's Shack on Grand Turk and still have a LOT more to go thru to finish. I learned NOT to add songs to the video or YouTube will block them....so the audio is straight out of the GoPro which wore it's water proof lid most of the time. CLICK HERE for my YouTube videos

Here's a prime example of no editing and poor video skills, but with that said you can get a good idea of what Cabin 8273 and the balcony is like as well as how close it is to the Serenity deck;

My plan is to do my normal review with pictures / text and just include the video in the timeline of the review. Perhaps by the time I'm finished I'll be able to do a comprehensive video and get YouTube to accept it with audio dubbing otherwise I'll just upload it to my site and let the royalty owners track me down..:D It will be worth it to get rid of the clicking and extra noise.

That's my cabin! Or will be in August, 2015.

Thanks for posting. :D

I'll work my way through the photos. Thanks, Paul.

I'm hoping the ship feels empty! It's one of the best things about sailing a Spirit-class ship. They have a much better "flow" and better space ratio. It just makes me sad that Carnival is so into building bigger ships while cramming more and more people into very little extra space. I'm an accountant, though, so I understand why. It's just not what I want when I sail (which is why I hope to "graduate" to HAL and Celebrity once I get that Milestone cruise under my belt). One of the many reasons I loved my HAL Hawaii cruise was that Zaandam was like a smaller version of a Spirit-class ship.

Anyone know who the casino host(ess) is currently? I need to talk to whomever about our Roll Call setting up a slot pull. I've already contacted the Players Club and was told to do this after boarding (well, once the casino staff starts to appear).

Thanks Paul, that will also be my cabin next month. I'm also hoping to get a cabana far down the beach. It looks like it stayed pretty empty all day down there. Was the walk to the bathroom and barbecue very far? I'm glad to see the sliced fruit and veggies were still there.

Paul, is there any way you can upload your FunTimes to your website or scan and email them to me so we have an idea of when we can set up a tentative time for our slot pull? I don't want spend my sea days running around the ship trying to contact people to let them know when it's going to happen.

Players Club contacted the casino host who said it has to be during a "quiet time" and not while there's any organized activity going on in the casino (like the slot or blackjack tournament).

If that's too much work (I know you're working on your video), can you just list the times of the casino tournaments? And is Monday the first Elegant Night?

Thanks!

jamscckmc,

The walk to the bathroom isn't too far and the barbecue is about twice the distance as to the bathroom; I have a video of that walk as well that I'll get uploaded in the next few days. :)

NCTribeFan,

Sorry, I just took pics of the FunTimes front page each day and didn't bring them back. I've brought them in the past, but they are the wrong size to run through my scanner so I didn't save them. I would recommend contacting Kirk, the CD and ask him to list your group's slot pull time in the FunTimes. You will like Kirk; very approachable and you'll see him whether you are looking for him or not.

Monday was the first elegant night.

So, got the email that says to not arrive until 2pm. I have FTTF - think it would hurt to arrive closer to noon in case we are able to board earlier?

Now that the Pride is going to all 3 ports again, more then likely it will not arrive back until close to 10am.. That means boarding will begin somewhere between 1 and 2pm... You can certainly arrive at noon, some people will be arriving by 10:30am, but I would not expect to board until after 1pm at the earliest.. Having FTTF on the pride sailings usually does not help too much with boarding, as in most trips, everyone can get to their cabin right when they board as its usually around 1:30 or later. It will help you if you need to go to guest services as you will not have to wait in the regular line

Yeah, that was kind of my thinking as well. Both FTTF awhile ago (since this was our first cruise in over 20 years), so it will still be worth it if our luggage is already in the room after we board. It's all good

Did FTTF in Baltimore for Pride in March. We had priority line for scanner, then a priority line for check in, then a priority waiting area. With later boarding, the regular area filled quickly. Yes, we had to wait until nearly 2 PM, but that still put us on way ahead of 90% of passengers. We had time for a late lunch without a crowd, tour of the ship, and unpacking while others will still going through the boarding process.

Thanks, Paul. I'll just speak to someone after I board.

I'm still debating when to request a shuttle to the port. I want to board as early as possible but don't want to sit around the terminal for hours, either. I think if I arrive around noon, I should be in good shape (assuming, of course, that she arrives back on time that morning and disembarkation of those pax goes smoothly, and those may be assumptions I'll regret making).

I never realized so many people were in such a hurry to unpack. :p

Between 11:30 AM and Noon is the ideal time to arrive. We've been on the Pride three times (and booked for a 4th) and only once did we have to wait for a significant time. On that cruise - March 2012, the Pride had hit rough seas on Saturday and was delayed for two hours arriving. It took extra time to clean up the aftermath. The other two cruises we boarded between 12:30PM and 1:00PM. Carnival is just trying to stretch out the arrivals due to limited seating in the terminal.

I can't begin enjoying my vacation until I'm unpacked. On a recent cruise one of our bags was MIA for hours.

It turned up in the naughty room. It didn't belong there.

Since I'm driving to port, I'll probably just pack some things on hangers. I use my own self-made "space bags" (2 gallon freezer bags). I roll items, put them in the bags, squeeze out the air and then layer them between the folds of slacks and dresses. When I unpack, I just dump out the bags into drawers and on shelves, and then use them to store the dirty clothes (by color and durability) so when I get home, I can just dump the bag into the washer.

Gee, think I've been cruising too many times the past few years? :p

Next week at work is going to be excrutiating. Had a really rough tax season and there's always a let down after the deadline when it's difficult to get back into the grind. I do have a few things I must get done or else I'd just be on here 24/7. When I'm not daydreaming about Half Moon Cay that is. ;)

Am I understanding correctly? Since the Pride has not received her 2.0 upgrade yet our dining is limited to 4 places. David's Steakhouse (Pay), the MDR, The Piazza Cafe on deck 2, and the Mermaid's Grill / Lido Restaurant on deck 9. It looks like Mermaid's is several stations in one large room but still one location. Am I correct or missing something?

Can you count Piazza cafe as a place to eat really? Coffee and some pastries that cost extra.

More like MDR, the steakhouse, and all the different lido options. Pizza, grill, burritos, deli, regular buffet lines.

There's also the sushi bar, which is outside the sports bar. Or, it may now be the Taste Bar. No charge but open limited hours. It's down on Deck 2, near the coffe/pastry bar.

The Mermaid Grill is the Lido Buffet. Plenty of variety to be found with the usual buffet lines, a deli, salads, pizza, and desserts. The burgers, chicken strips, hot dogs and fries are at the outdoor grill.

I'm betting you won't go hungry. ;)

When I was on Pride in January 2014 the old sushi location had become The Taste Bar. I wouldn't call it a place to eat though. The portions were very small.
