What would you consider a "must" on a HAL ship?

The only "MUST" is the muster drill. The rest is up to you!

 

On the Maasdam last week, we heard the alarm for the muster drill and grabbed our life vests and headed out to our lifeboat station...imagine our surprise when we got there and were the only ones carrying our life vests. This was the first time in 27 cruises that we weren't required to take our vest with us....guess I'll have to pay attention to the directions next cruise.

For me escargot and the white chocolate in the Neptune Lounge.

A must for me is spending every possible moment I can on HMC......paradise to us! Also, I must have the chocolate volcano cake to end my Pinnacle dinner...yummy! We even try breakfast and lunch in the MDR and to sit with "strangers".,,,sometimes it's the best time ever and sometimes it's the longest meal I've ever had to endure. We've met some of the nicest people that way and end up spending more time with them during the cruise. We've also met people that we later find ourselves avoiding when/if we see them afterwards around the ship. We just feel it's part of the adventure of our cruise.

YUM! It's only 10:15 AM here and I could go for a couple of these right now. As a matter of fact I have done exactly that on the ship and passed on the soup. My all time favourite.:D:D:D

Take the time late one clear night to find a quiet dark spot (on top of the Crow's Nest always worked for me) and spend some time gazing at the heavens. I am not a particularly religious man, but that is as close to the Almighty as I can get in this life.

 

Amen to that! Some of the most enjoyable time is late at night or early in the morning, alone, in the Crow's Nest or at the stern on the Lido Deck.

They said too many people were getting injured when they brought along life vests. Go figure...

Thanks for the great lists! I'm a HAL newbie and now I feel like I've been given a real taste of what's to come on 2/19 on Eurodam. Escargots and cinammon ice cream-Yum! Plus my husband and I are definitely planning on some soulful sky-high star gazing. Thanks again everyone!

I SO agree about the piano bar. I spent a good deal of time there (okay, every night) :D last year on the Westerdam. I'm hoping the pianist on the Eurodam is good!

1/4 oz Vodka

1/4 oz Gin

1/4 oz White Rum

1/4 oz Scotch

1/4 oz Bourbon

1/4 oz Tequila

1/4 Triple Sec

1/4 oz Brandy

 

Top it off with Pineapple and Orange Juice

 

Add a splash of Grenadine and let the games begin!

For us a must is to watch the sun rise over the ocean several times. One of our most beautiful moments was in Bora Bora watching the sun rise as the air appeared to turn blue and the ocean turned fiery orange where the sun hit it as it began to rise. To top it off we had dolphins escorting us in through the orange/gold waves. Heavenly bliss.

Must have one of those chocolate Danish/croissant things every morning for breakfast in the MDR.

Must enjoy a lovely glass of champagne at the sail-away party.

Must get dolled up for formal nights (every girl loves to play dress up)

Must have a Mojito (or... a few :D)

Must find an excellent bartender, and enjoy the night-away drinking with friends and family.

Must eat all the prosciutto and melon you can while available in the Lido.

Must order chocolate chip cookies and milk from room service late at night.

Must have at least one meal in both the Tamarind and the Pinnacle.

Must enjoy some time in the Crows Nest.

Must remember as many staff members names as you can without looking at their name tags (they remember guests names, why not remember theirs too!)

Must not look at the blackberry and curse at how many emails from work you receive. :eek:

Must enjoy your life onboard to the fullest!! It will come to an end far too soon. :mad:
