"LIVE" from Oasis of the Seas / Jan 22, 2011

Hello everyone. . . Welcome to Day 7 of my Oasis of the Seas “LIVE” Report.

I wanted to post a few pics last night from just before Sail away, but somehow I got. . .um, well. . . I went to bed a little early. Oh well . . . Today is another day, and there are places on the ship I haven’t been to. Yes I was unable to view every part of the ship. . . I got to most places, and I will try to get to the rest later today (and tomorrow)

The Captain informed us of an unfortunate accident yesterday. While in Cozumel there was a drill for the crew only. It seems that one of the crew was seriously injured and had to be removed from the vessel. He suggested that his thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the crew member. It seems that what happened may be very serious. I hope that all turns out well.

We have 344nm to go before we arrive at our Debarkation Port of Fort Lauderdale. I don’t want to think about packing, so I won’t. I will just wait until this evening to worry about that.

There will be many activities today, and I am sure there will be many last minute sales in every shop. I am sure the someone may win a cruise today while playing Bingo, and I think that I may have to pay the Casino Royale another visit or two.

The espresso machine is in non functioning in the Diamond Club (very close to my cabin), so I will have to drag myself up to Deck 11 and get a nice cup from the Concierge Lounge. . .Oh well sometimes I have to do a little work. . .

Here are a few pics from last night while we were still tied up in Cozumel. We left a little late due to Medical concerns

Thank you so much for sharing your trip eith us!

May I ask what type of classes you are taking on the Oasis?

Also, do you think Chankanaab would accommodate a guest who uses a motorized scooter? We will be going on the western in November with my parents and my dad cannot walk long distances. Also, did you happen to notice if there are handicapped accessible taxis?

I am taking some RCI Travel Partner Classes (Seminar at Sea)

There are lots of sidewalks to take you to many of the places in Chankanaab, but not o the beach. I did see many motorized scooters there. . .I saw several Accessible taxis at the port. . .

My family of 4 was in a D4 balcony on Deck 8 and had the bed by the closet. It was not a big deal to us. Yes, it was a little harder to get into the closet.....but not so much that it even made a dent in the outcome of our incredible cruise on Oasis. My 2 young children slept in the pull-out sofa by the balcony door. They are both deep sleepers and my husband and I were more than able to open the door and slip outside after they went to bed. I can see the bed being more convienent when by the balcony, but I do not think this is a big issue.

I totally agree with your opinion on the room layout. Our bed was next to the closet as well and while it made it slightly annoying it in no way put a dent in our great cruise. Really a non-issue in the scheme of things.

Thanks guys!! The feedback helps. Only gonna be DH and myself on this one...so it shouldn't be a big deal. I appreciate your opinions. While I wasn't concerned in the beginning...all the posts made me nervous. Our last cabin was on the Disney Magic and, therefore, much larger than the one we will have on Oasis. This is one issue of my "worry list".

CAN'T WAIT FOR APRIL 30!!!!!! :)

Radio...thanks so much for the Live thread!!! It's really helping me get through the awful weather!!!!!!

Boy I am lucky that I get to sail with you. We have a cabin on the 11th floor overlooking the boardwalk, last one on the aft. I sure would like to meet up with you. Are you going to sign up for Meet and Meangle like we have. When you get back maybe an e-mail to me you could do. I have enjoyed you pictures and your take of what to do. We are doing MTD for the first time on this cruise and hope that works. Loved it on the Pride of America (NCL). In Falmouth we are doing the Bobsled Jamica and Dunns River falls. In Cozumel we are doing the Tulum Mayan Ruins Express. In Labadee my son (41) is doing the Dragon's Breath Flight line. Not me as I am 72 and have done zips lines in Mexico. Looking forward to seeing you in May. Thanks for all you do to keep us informed on what is going on. Your pictures make mine look SICK. Keep up the great work.;)

Is the sofa a traditional pull out or a futon type thing? I have a 6 ft son who is sleeping there... thanx

Will try asking again....

Radio, since you spend a little time in the casino, what is the poker situation like on the Oasis? Are their actual dealers or PokerPro machines? Is there just one table or several? Thanks very much.

Sammy

There is no Dealer. . .There are Poker Pro machines. . . There is a very big Poker Group on board this week that are taking up the whole Conference Center. . . I will post a few pics of the Casino, and Poker Tables tomorrow !

I can't believe tomorrow is your debarkation. I've enjoyed traveling via your postings so much that I'm getting depressed about the end of the trip and I haven't even left home! Thanks so much for taking me along.

No worries. . .Thanks for the nice comments. I have lots more pics to post, so this "LIVE" Cruise will go on for a few more days.

I don't take the train back ontil Sunday afternoon, and I will be going to Seas World on Sunday morning. When I get to my hotel in Orlando I will have many other pics that have not been seen. . .

:( Oh, gosh......I'm now wondering if it's possible to get PCD from a virtual cruise! It's making me sad that YOUR cruise is almost over. Yikes............

Thank you so much for doing this report! It couldn't have come at a better time as I will sail the Oasis two weeks from tomorrow! Can't wait! It will only be my second cruise and my husband's first!

Question...last cruise I was on one night there was a huge dessert buffet. Does the Oasis have that one evening? My husband will be in HEAVEN if they do!

:)On board Oasis for the super bowl...any way to find out if Sunday will still be formal night?

Really, really enjoying your report.

we were on the Indy during the SuperBowl last year and it was still a formal night. the dining room was def quieter that night, as many opted out to dress down for the night and watch the super bowl instead.
