Radiance delays on 01/27/11?

And how perfectly romantic to be in a GS on Valentines day too! :)

I loved our GS on the Freedom and the Mariner.

 

Now with this newly curtailed "retiree income"....I am back to deals I can scrounge up on JS and balconies.

But hey...I can cruise on last minute bargains and more often! :D

 

Yes, that is one of the best things about retirement. Cruising more often!!!

We were on the January 13 sailing and ate at Chops twice and Portofino twice, so never went to MDR. My dh and I gave Chops the edge.

You are correct, the maitre'd in Chops is wonderful. Her name is LayLeigh or LeighLay (sp?) or something like that. I LOVED her name and told her so. If I didn't have children already, I would have written it down, it was so pretty.

 

We were on Deck 7 and never noticed any plumbing or other issues. I didn't even mention all the problems the ship was having to my dh and he never knew the difference. I did tell him about the Noro and we were delayed boarding until about 12:30 pm/1 pm, but that was it.

The Jewel was having problems also, though no delays as a result. Divers with welding equipment were at the aft of the ship, I am guessing working on the Azipods, when we were boarding on 1/14.

 

We had several instances of back up on the black water part of the sewer system. None of the toilets on the ship were flushing when we arrived in one port early morning. Was unblocked while we were in port during that day, and then happened again while at sea. Giant sewer suckers, more equipment, and more welding gear was there to great us when we returned to Ft. Lauderdale on the 24th. This time working lower mid ship off the dock.

 

Looks like the twin sisters are having twin problems.

Will let you know if problems persist when we board Jewel tomorrow morning.:)

Though a few problems, they were minor to us. We absolutely LOVED the Jewel.... :D

 

Sigh...I miss her already, but am also anxious to meet her twin sister the end of the month!

I don't know if I missed reading this on the post. I found it at Events at Sea 2011, on Cruise Junkie. Don't know how acurate it is but it may provide some input for you all.

From a reader: The ship, homeported in Tampa, FL is currently operating under USCG Captain of The Port Order (COTP) due to one of two main propulsion azipods being inoperative for maneuver and requires a tractor tug tethered escort every arrival & departure from Tampa Bay to insure safe transit should the one remaining azipod propulsion fail. Royal Caribbean fails to make timely repairs and instead will let the ship limp along at sea operating on one azipod until next overhaul shipyard period scheduled Fall 2011. Yes, that's correct Fall 2011 before Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines will effect repairs to the damaged azipod !! Please make this information available on your website for the general safety of the cruising public. Radiance of the Seas is only operating on one azipod - a precarious situation and disaster waiting to happen. We all know what just happened to the Carnival Splendor a few months ago having a generator fire in the engine room which resulted in total loss of main propulsion vessel had to be towed back to California.

Comments were also made to the fact that this is simply a personal view from another website, and the accurancy is questioned due to the fact that Radiance is actually going into dry dock in May....not the Fall as he stated. :rolleyes:

Could be a competitor (from that circus line ) that is just envious of this pretty ship!! ;)

Thank-you for the info... in quick reading the 4 pages I somehow missed that whole part. However I am watching my 4 year old and 10 month old at the same time:), so I only really have 1 eye on the computer.

 

And yes we loved the Radiance when we were on her as well as her sister the Serenede. I guess that is the only time that I could say that I have loved two sisters;) and maybe not have gotten a strange look and not a lot of explaining to do after.

The Q&A with the Captain on the Radiance in December about the tug escorting the Radiance was very suspicious. Someone asked about the tug escorting the ship down Tampa Bay and he just said it varied by port. I know our Zenith cruise a few years ago did not require it out of Tampa. This ship just seems way overdue for a drydock to fix it's mechanical issues.
