ronandcarla Posted February 15, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2011 We are doing our own air travel arrangements for our next cruise. Does anyone have any recommendations relating to luggage tags from home to airport and/or airport to cruise terminal?
cruiseguy1016 Posted February 15, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2011 DO NOT put your RCI luggage tags on your bags until after you pick them up in the airport at your final destination.
James MTL Posted February 15, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 15, 2011 DO NOT put your RCI luggage tags on your bags until after you pick them up in the airport at your final destination. Ditto and good advise. Wait till you pick them all up at your arrival terminal and before you hop in the cab/shuttle you can put them on then. Ashland Posted February 15, 2011 #4 Share Posted February 15, 2011 That depends!!! One of the few times that you "should" put them on before your flight is one we did to Alaska..Landed in Vancouver BC and we had transfers with RCI since we were a "Cruise Direct" we never had to claim our luggage..went from flight arrival thru customs/immigration and then directly to our RCI transfer bus...We didn't see our luggage from the time we left LAX until it was delivered to our cabin and so we were specifically told we must put our luggage tags on when we left our home airport..So always check and don't always assume... goose30 Posted February 15, 2011 #6 Share Posted February 15, 2011 What if your bags get delayed? Without the cruise tags the airline will send your bags back home. What good would they do you there? If you have the cruise tags on maybe the airline can arrange for the bags to catch up with you.
cb at sea Posted February 15, 2011 #7 Share Posted February 15, 2011 Put a copy of your itinerary into an UNLOCKED, OUTSIDE pocket on all of your checked bags, along with your cell phone number, so should a bag go astray, they can contact you without opening your luggage! Airlines have enough problem getting bags where they're supposed to go when you only have their own tags on the bags!!! Don't confuse them with additional stuff!!!
