First 8 Carnival Cruises-$0.00!!!

My boss(Dr.) takes his wife and all of us girls on a yearly cruise-have had other cruise lines mixed in, but Carnival is my favorite. Paid for my first cruise last year as wanted to go on one with hubby, now this year we leave(with hubby and another couple-first time cruisers) on Sunday 3/27 on the Legend. Don't remember the cost, but it's worth it!!!

Haven't gotten the plans yet for my yearly "free" cruise. Last year was the Freedom to Panama, Costa Rico, and Cozumel.

October 24, 2005 - we sailed on the Liberty on it's Transatlantic voyage from Europe to Miami, 16 days. I'm not sure how far in advance I booked this, but I contacted Carnival and worked with a PVP before the ship was actually finished being built. We wanted to be on it's maiden Transatlantic voyage. For the 16 day cruise - with air to Italy and return flight home from Miami - we paid $982 per person. There were three of us and we had two normal fares and the third person was charged the third/fourth person fare. We added them all together and divided by three, just to be fair, but I thought $61 a day air included was pretty darn good.

Golden Princess inside passage out of Seattle, 7/4/09 (peak season) inside room for two- totalled $847.

They had a special sale in Jan of '09 when the economy went down the tubes and this price included my Princess FCC and stock benefit.

In May 2009 when the infamous "Swine Flu Fiasco" hit and they shut down Mexico, I knew that all hell was going to break loose for the Mobile and NOLA cruises because, human nature being what it is, people were going to run screaming from those cruises because most believe everything they hear in the media. That being said, once they closed Mexico I began watching the prices and sure enough, within days, they tanked as people were leaving those cruises in droves. I kept watching and watching and soon enough I found the price point I wanted, $200pp for a week cruise, tax included. We sailed the Fantasy out of NOLA and did a week with stops in Nassau, Freeport and Key West. We booked on a Monday and sailed on a Saturday, lol!

Don't know if I'll ever be able to do another week-long cruise for $400 total again (barring another "health fiasco"). But boy, was that SWEET!

I got a great deal on the Mariner of the Seas coming up in May. 12 day eastern med, for $911, sailing solo. one of those promenade cabins they have with what I call my window to the world. LOL And I even scored airfare for less than $700, rt to Rome. I am really proud of finding THAT deal!

It is also my first non-Carnival cruise. :( But since they no longer have a reduced solo supplement, they just aren't going to necessarily be my first choice anymore. I priced a 9 day west. med on the Magic in august, and sailing solo, it was twice the price.

I don't suppose "free" counts? Thanks to some green/black chip play in the casino on the Celebrity Century - I was offered (and graciously accepted) a free cruise on the Constellation (10 night Thanksgiving) and then on the Solstice. Though what I lost (casino) on the Solstice covered their expenses, and then some... (NOT sure why Carnival - in almost 50 sailings, has not figured that one out.. it's their loss! -- which is better than mine!!)

Yes - FREE counts!

I am taking my lucky staff on the NCL Epic the Saturday after Thanksgiving this year. I think this makes #4 or 5 for them!

Our best cruise value was the 16 day Panama Canal transit on the Carnival Elation back in 2007. We departed from Port Canaveral with stops in Aruba, Coista Rica, Acapulco, Mazatlan, and Cabo, arriving in San Diego. The price was less than $1,000 per person for an oceanview.

My best deal was $128 pp (subtracting OBC from base cruise fare). Four in two porthole cabins on Fantasy (5 day) out of NOLA in August 2009. That included a $50 Welcome Back for each cabin and a $50 Shareholder for each, plus Early Saver OBC.

Sure wish that would happen again!

We were on the $99 Ecstasy 3 night hurricane special 2008 too! Booked the day before, lol. I felt bad for the people that had been waiting to board, even with compensation from Carnival due to weather we still got a better deal on that cruise. Of course we didn't get a discount on our next one though.

Then in 2009 when the swine flu was going on we took a 7 day on the Fantasy out of NOLA for $199 a person.

5 day cruise $120 TOTAL!

It was on the SS Veracruz out of Tampa in 1985. I was living in Germany and on vacation in FL to catch my sisters wedding. Ran into a guy who worked for the lines and told me the price, called Germany to extend my stay, and off I went.

The Veracraz was a very small ship, especially by todays standards. It was cozy and by the end of the cruise you felt like you knew everyone. It was great fun. One of it's sister ships was called CARNIVALE, which grew into the mega lines.

Those were the days.

Accounting for inflation, that's $246 in 2010 money. Still not a bad price.

I dont know if this was the same one I was on. I paid $129 X 2 for solo, but I talked to people onboard who only paid $99.

They put me in a quad by myself.

I noticed your signature -- what did you think of the Ecstasy after most recently sailing on the Epic? :)

Delayed by fog ... I see they gave you a GREAT compensation package - how delayed was it to warrant such a sweet deal?

Our best deal was in 2009. We got a 4 night cruise for $279 pp, with the option of a 3 night later for $99 pp,including as many cabins as needed. We did the first in March and took MIL for her 1st cruise in October. What fun!:D

I believe the Ecstasy cruise they're talking about was the one that left 2 days late to do a 3 night cruise to nowhere. It was originally a 5 night trip.

I was wondering what are some of the best deals you have ever had on a cruise price? Was the price through the cruise line or though a travel agent? Was it a upgrade to make it a good deal? What time of year was this cruise? Intrested to hear peoples thoughts.

Personally, I booked a last minute 7 day cruise in March with Costa Cruise line, booked with a online travel agent, one of the more popular ones for $299.00 per person. I was so happy with the deal and enjoyed Costa for a change of pace.

$5000.16 will seem like a lot of money, BUT we're talking about unobstructed oceanview, three back-to-back cruises totalling 49 nights aboard the Splendor's repositioning cruise(s) from Fort Lauderdale to San Francisco "Around the Horn" in February and March 2009, transfers, and roundtrip airfare! This was on a 24-hour "Veterans Day Sale" on the website for a military service organization's official travel agency and was a military rate. My husband thought I was joking when I asked him if he wanted to go on a 49-night cruise, but he got the idea very quickly when he heard the price that someone, somewhere really appreciated his service as a combat medic in Vietnam all those years ago--AND he performed the Heimlich maneuver on a lady passenger who was choking in the dining room on our ninth night out after two waiters had tried and failed!! From then on, he was "The Hero of the Main Dining Room," and if that wasn't enough, he won "The Hairy Chest Contest" on the first cruise and was a judge for the same contest on the following two cruises!

I just "discovered" Cruise Critic two weeks ago when I was checking out cabins on the Spirit: What a GREAT FIND!!! We are attempting to duplicate our "Splendor Experience" with a similar experience on the Spirit when she repostions to Sydney in September 2012; we're booked on the first cruise, waiting for the second to be posted, and we're working with the same WONDERFUL travel agent who booked us on the Splendor. We have no idea if a military rate will ever become available, but our agent booked us on Early Saver so we'll wait to see what happens.

Thank you for your posting and HAPPY CRUISING!!!
