the 12.16 sailing of the Radiance has Simon. I believe his last time is Yokes but hopefully another fellow sailer can second that. It was his first week on the Radiance and he was excellent!

not sure when karen mayberry is leaving--she was very enjoyable. She told me that "Eric" (did not catch the last name if she said it) was taking over for her & that he would be good. She is going to the Legend because she can speak Spanish. One of the other passengers told me Eric is an American & he had heard that the reason for the change was that "they" felt there needed to be an American CD going out of Texas. I point blank asked Karen about it & she laughed and said no.

marissa~ did you sail for your internship project? if so, how did it go?

 

Yeah! It was awesome. It wasn't everything that I planned, but I got a do a series of interviews which were really fun and helpful. I also went to EVERY SINGLE event hosted by Dave. I also conducted interviews with the Activities Manager, Tim Conner and he was a bunch of fun too. Next time, I'm going to try and be more prepared by fixing things up with RCCL corporate headquarters and have things set rather than just assuming. Either way, I had a good time. It wasn't like I was working my butt off the whole time, but I got a lot of work done while cruising for pleasure.

To be honest, it's hard to tell for sure who your CD will be. Prior to my cruise this December, I called RCCL about who my CD would be. They said Allan Brooks...and I called about 6 times or so to make sure. Turns out, Dave Chapman just came back to the Explorer during my sailing...which was a huge shock and pleasure, but I wasn't exactly prepared for it. It mattered to me somewhat because I was planning interviews and such for a school project. Interviewing Dave didn't mess things up, but it just goes to show you that ship assignments can get pretty whacky. I was told by some crew members that even mid-contract, they can be moved to some other ship. It's actually happened when people are packed and ready to go at the airport and they get a phone call telling them that they've just been assigned to a different ship planned.

 

But to predict, your CD might be Dennis Sciortino :]

We'll be onboard Legend of the Seas on February 10, 2008. Will let you know who the CD is when we return. if it turns out to be Karen Mayberry, it will be the third cruise we have had where she was the CD. The previous two were on Jewel of the Seas.

Yes, Eric is a hoot! ;) I sailed with him on the on the Grandeur back in 2006 (I think) I was hoping to catch him again this year with my DH but when we sailed the Grandeur in November Simeon Baker was the cruise director.

Speaking of Cruises out of Texas, Anyone heard from Dan Whitney lately? I really enjoyed him on the Rhapsody the times I went out of Galveston. (he has been gone well over a year).

 

What about Clo? I know she came back for a while, anyone know if she is back for good (was out on maternaty leave since spring 2006).

 

The other one I wanted to meet was Tim Sievert, he lives in the same area that I do, but haven't seem him around in ages either. (too long to be a vacation)
