Shoes for excursions

Recommended Posts

What type of shoes would you recommend wearing for excursions? All of our excursions will involve wearing a bathing suit & cover up so I would assume somethnig waterproof but is there a good, comfortable waterproof sandal out there?

For active water excursions- I like a teva/keen type sandal. Keen sandals don't fit my feet - I'm on my second pair of Tevas (since 1992 - I think that's pretty good:p) I can hike a few miles in them and have never had blisters etc.

I only wear flip flops for VERY short walks. Like - from the cabin to the pool, maybe;) But on a cruise I'd only bring the one pair of tevas because they're multi-purpose for me, where flip flops aren't. I demand more from my footwear:D

I bought my most recent pair a few years ago at Sierra Trading Post - great price. And they have the toe cover - another reason they're great for hiking.

For going to the beach, flip-flops are fine. If you're going to be in the water, some folks like water shoes....they're ugly, tho!

It really depends on what you're doing! If you're climbing Dunn River Falls, wear a sturdy, waterproof (or at least, something with traction) shoe. Otherwise, flip-flops are fine.

I have Coleman sandals that are tough and comfortable. They can be rinsed off and good as new.

Hi,:) I think it depends on what type of excursion you are doing. When I

go to the beach I wear a pair of slides/sandals. If I am doing a

sightseeing tour? I usually wear a sandal but something with a bit more

support. (Unless it is a bus/shuttle/and walking) then I will probably

just wear the same type of sandal as to the beach. So in the Carbbean

I am pretty much wearing sandals during the day;)

Flip flops are the most comfortable for me, but I wear them all summer. I have several pairs of Tevas that have a molded footbed that have some support. I do have water shoes for rocky beaches, but to me they aren't comfortable for walking any distances.

Lands End has some cute water shoes.

I have some expensive Salomon water shoes and the Lands End ones are half the price! My feet can't tell the difference, either. Guess what pair I'm going to keep on buying. ;)

I can't wear flip-flops, so if I'm doing something where I know my feet will get wet, yet I'll need shoes, like rocky shores, I wear my (very old, probably 1996) Tevas. I can also wear them for some walking/hiking, but not for miles.

There's no doubt that most water shoes are ugly, but when you need them you need them.
