Help Me Plan a Surprise for My Boyfriend

Recommended Posts

We are cruising next month to celebrate boyfriend's retirement. I would like to do something special in the cabin to surprise him.

I was thinking of doing streamers, happy retirement signs, etc, but maybe that will be too goofy?

Any ideas of what I could do special for him?

I would especially interested to hear what the men on Cruise Critic would appreciate as a memorable gesture.

A $100 casino chip in a Hallmark Card.

An invitation to dinner at Chops.

Not to get too crude, but special lingerie would be memorable by me.

Not knowing your boyfriend but this person is defintely going down the right street. Not going to speak for him but I would definitely tell my wife to go far donw that line of thought.

Its a guy thing. The more the better.

The decorations aren't corny and sound good. I like all of the other suggestions as well. Since he is leaving behind the stress of work and you are helping him celebrate maybe a couples massage at the spa on your second day would be nice. Start the cruise off all nice and relaxed....

Does your BF use a "crackberry" for work? If so...

If the thing belongs to his employer and he has to turn it in on his last day, buy an old cheap one... and have a Farewell and Memorial Service where you throw the thing overboard and then toast its memory with a glass of champagne.

Yeah, yeah, I know we are not supposed to throw things overboard, so maybe just throw it in the trash.;)

To be left alone:eek:

Hee Hee Hee.

You know, not going and giving him some time alone would probably be great, but I couldn't stand not torturing him with all my love and attention.

You definitely think like a man.

Last night he told me to only speak to him in braille. I think I was being a little too chatty lol.

No Blackberry, but cute idea. I wonder if this would work if I throw my mortgage and student loan bill overboard? Will it go away too.

I (a male) think the decorations ARE corny. If it were me, I would love the casino chip or the lingerie. How about dinner at Chops or Portofino where he can get a really good steak cooked to order?

You know him better than any of us here could. Would he be more into the romantic stuff or the manly stuff?

Any excursions he's shown an interest in, that you don't? Hubby LOVED that I booked him on the Zipline in Puerto Vallarta...he really wanted to do it, but was concerned I was going to feel "left out"...so he went "zipping" and I went shopping. Win-win for us!

The lingere, massages, fine dining, we do all the time. I want something over the top original.

I see men truly do think only on one path lol.

I think it's a given you'll get some good luvin on a cruise. I want to do somethin he wouldn't expect.

For example: I woke up one morning and he had prepared breakfast, which is not typical. He had purchased little heart shaped post its, and he had written on each ome of them something he loved about me and sent me on a scavenger hunt around the house.

There were a total of 100 of those little notes. I still have them and keep them in a little box in my lingeree drawer. They are the first thing i see when I get dressed every day :p

You could always try the cake thing........

Party music as they wheel in the cake, suddenly a young dolly bird jumps out...

That would surprise him lol.....

hmmm then again you could always surprise him more if a male jumped out and you explained it was your toyboy lol.....

What ever you decide Im sure he will enjoy it .....best of luck

(Champers and strawberrys on the balcony, good sunset and great company I am sure he would be happy with that):D:D

That's great that he did this for you. And you obviously liked it. But would HE like it if you did it for him. I do cute, romantic things for my wife all the time and she loves it! But, I'm a guy and, I don't necessarily care for all that cutesy stuff. How does HE feel about the cutesy stuff? It sounds like you have the luvin' part of it already planned. Now you need to figure out what else is going to make him really happy. Again, you know him better than us. What sort of thing is HE going to like?

If my wife did any of those, I would of course be appreciative, but I would be thinking, "what a waste." A steak and the most expensive bottle of wine at Chops would be more to my taste.

This is the point I've been trying to make. Most women like the cutesy, romantic stuff, most men don't. If he gets all the luvin' and great meals and those sorts of things at home, then take him on an adventurous shore excursion. Zip line, 4X4 ATV, 4 wheel drive jeep tour. Most men would like those sorts of things.
