Puerto Vallarta Malecon closes for reconstruction

Here's a link to a Puerto Vallarta web cam. The camera is usually (though not always) focused on the Malecon. You can see the construction progress in "real-time." Sometimes it shows an "up-close" view...other times a "distant view," and occasionally it is focused on something else entirely, so you'll want to check back periodically. The picture refreshes about every 10 seconds.

We will be staying at the Westin; my question is this. DH is disabled and travels with an electric scooter, can he ride his scooter to the Malecon from the Westin? Thanks.

I couldn't imagine using a scooter on any of the streets in PV. From the Westin not a chance. At best I could see hiring a taxi van that can load the scooter into the van and taxi to the Malecon then ride it on the ocean side? But even then I am shuddering.

I just asked MR.QT and he responded with a flat out, "NO WAY"

That said, if it works out well with Dh's scooter please let us know :)

The streets of PV are not scooter friendly and here is a map from JR's website showing where the Malecon is, it is a ways away from the Malecon.

From what my friends who live in PV the reconstructions is coming along nicely, certainly when we were there in May I was shocked by how much work had been done. :)

Thank you so much, love the maps and the advice!

We will be leaving the scooter at the hotel and cab it for a short tour. Being disable takes your freedom away but most of his life he was like a bird. Again, thanks, we will be there come 03/12/12.

You are so welcome :)

Before the Malecon closed for construction there were places that one could sit on the ocean side of it. I certainly think they will have them back up so your husband could be able to rest periodically. At the south end across the street there is a lovely little plaza that would make for some great people watching. There is a Starbucks close to there to provide refreshment.

Again another of Jr's maps.....

For the last 75 minutes I have been reading all that the website had to offer. It is priceless, not only a well of information but written with humor. Hate to wish my life away but can hardly wait for March 2012 for our visit to Puerto Vallarta.
