casmith Posted July 27, 2011 #1 Share Posted July 27, 2011 Need suggestions on my choice of cabins. Trying to do a low budget cruise-just want to get on the ship. Which of the 2 choices would you prefer. Riveria deck-inside cabin or Emerald deck-obstructed view. Please advise. Thank you
cherylandtk Posted July 27, 2011 #2 Share Posted July 27, 2011 Emerald Obstructed if both are the same price, unless the inside is one of the close by aft ones leading to the back deck. Or maybe one of the oversize midship ones (but I found ours to be too noisy).
casmith Posted July 27, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted July 27, 2011 Thanks-they are the same price. I was leaning towards the Emerald but wasn't sure if being on a higher floor was better.
caribill Posted July 27, 2011 #4 Share Posted July 27, 2011 I would pick the outside obstructed. If the upgrade fairy were to pay a visit, it is a better cabin to be upgraded from.
vmom Posted July 27, 2011 #5 Share Posted July 27, 2011 One of my favorite things about being on the Emerald deck is that its only one flight of stairs down to the Promenade deck, which is great for being about to get outside for some scenery and fresh air quickly. casmith Posted July 27, 2011 Author #6 Share Posted July 27, 2011 Thanks everyone-I was leaning towards the Emerald deck and now feel better about my decision. CS
phabric Posted July 27, 2011 #7 Share Posted July 27, 2011 I would choose Emerald obstructed view as you would some light coming from the window. We were on the Crown in April and my daughters had E701 an obstructed cabin category F. There was no obstruction at all. They paid for an obstructed view and had a oceanview cabin. DrivesLikeMario Posted July 27, 2011 #8 Share Posted July 27, 2011 Definitely go with the obstructed view. At least you'll get some light in your cabin (or "stateroom" but not "room" ;) ) and will be able to tell whether it's day or night.
captainron Posted July 28, 2011 #9 Share Posted July 28, 2011 Definitely go with the obstructed view. At least you'll get some light in your cabin (or "stateroom" but not "room" ;) ) and will be able to tell whether it's day or night. You can always select the channel for the BridgeCam on your stateroom TV to tell if day or night. In an inside (IMHO) you can get a better sleep but take an alarm clock with you. Ciao for now!!! lovevacadays Posted July 28, 2011 #10 Share Posted July 28, 2011 Another vote for the OV cabin. I've sailed in a few of these, most recently on the Sapphire Princess and the view wasn't ubstructed at all! Much preferable to an inside in my opinion. Enjoy your cruise.
