paradoc1 Posted July 31, 2011 #2 Share Posted July 31, 2011 Went on the Triumph out of NO last 4th and the ship didn't really do anything special. we wore red white and blue as did many others but the sail away was as always, we did see multiple fireworks on the shore as we passed and that was cool sitting on the balcony having drinks otherwise nothing else. klfrodo Posted July 31, 2011 #3 Share Posted July 31, 2011 Do the ships do anything special on the night of the 4th(ex.. fireworks, laser show, deck party) Think International when on a cruise. While there is "some" recognitition of the American holiday, it's not all about us anymore. There are international guests on the ship and you maybe in a different country on the 4th. Besides,,,, explosives on a cruiseship in the middle of the ocean....
nybumpkin Posted July 31, 2011 #4 Share Posted July 31, 2011 We've cruised four times over July 4. The last was four weeks ago on Carnival Glory. Josh Waitzman, the CD, really made an effort to celebrate July 4, with July 4-themed games in the afternoon, "Livin' in America" as the main show (they changed the usual order of the production shows), and a late night party in the atrium, which was decorated with a giant American flag and red, white and blue banners on the railings. I tried to stay up for the late night party, but just couldn't do it. My son went, though, and had a good time. This was a port day for us - Saint John, New Brunswick, a city noted for being a haven for loyalists fleeing the colonies during the American Revolution. Not a place where you would expect an acknowledgment of July 4.:p However, our tour guide (dressed as a loyalist) did wish us all a happy July 4. firefly333 Posted July 31, 2011 #5 Share Posted July 31, 2011 Only disney ships are allowed to shoot off fireworks, takes special permits. some people thought that they changed the deck party that night to special enough that it made it seem like it was special for the July 4th holiday, I didnt think it was special or notice anything different. JRock59 Posted July 31, 2011 #8 Share Posted July 31, 2011 This past 4th ships sailing out of US ports did have a special party at night celebrating. Since real fireworks were not allowed confetti cannons were used. This was the 1st year Carnival has done this. And while it may not be what your use to at least they made an effort. Either John Heald or Carnival posted photos from one ship on their Facebook page.
