Renaissance vs. Marriott Marina?

FYI - Embassy Suites has not come up as a winning hotel with Priceline for several months. RCCL now uses this hotel as a pre-cruise stay and the hotel seems to be pretty full, or at least full enough that they don't seem to be releasing rooms to Priceline and though rooms are available on Hotwire, they are very expensive ($200).

Marriott Mariana and Marriott North are 2 separate hotels.

When we won the Marriott Mariana hotel on Priceline (December cruise) - we did not get a free breakfast with our stay.

We booked Embassy Suites for Sep.23 and got a rate of $150. I guess I won't be going through priceline because this is where we want to stay. I also read somewhere that if you are picky, priceline is not for you. One couple couldn't switch out of a smoking room and ended up going somewhere else. I think this was at a low end hotel though.

We stayed at the Marriott North in late Feb. prior to our Princess cruise on the Sun. The hotel is a nice, clean hotel, but, it is too far away from anything. You need a taxi to go wherever you wish to go. We had a nice room & the one restaurant we ate at for breakfast & lunch was good. For dinner, they provide a free shuttle service for up to 5 mi. radius of hotel. We asked what good restaurants would be in that radius for a good seafood dinner & they suggested the Blue Moon in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. It was very delicious but expensive. They took us at our appointed time, but when it was time for pickup at the restaurant they said it would be a few minutes because a lg. group had just arrived. Well, they forgot us & I had to call back after waiting for 1 hr., but it was free, so no major complaint. The hotel is very clean & comfortable. It was too cool to use the pool when we were there, but there is a decent pool. If you have Princess transportation to pier, watch for representative from Princess to arrive & get ticket number for bus transfer to ship. Its quite a mess in lobby if more than one ship is departing. Be warned.

Why not consider a executive tower room at the Pier 66? This is by far more special and has fab views, the revolving Pier Top lounge for 360 views and atmoshpere?? It's a honeymoon for gosh sakes, a hopefully once in a lifetime. Plus, you'll have a great balcony overlookng harbor and sea, the stars, and your beloved...

Cruisin'Chris,

Can you get the Pier 66 through Priceline, how do you place you bid for that hotel?

We stayed at the Embassy Suites in February. They have a shuttle from the airport and to the port. Make sure you sign up for the shuttle to the port as soon as you check in.

We were going to take a taxi, but the shuttle driver asked us where we were going, and cancelled the taxi for us. He took us to the pier. We enjoyed the free buffet breakfast. We ate dinner at a restaurant across the street, it was very good. We will stay there again in March before we go on the Caribbean Princess.
