Driving from Halifax port to Peggy's Cove?

Considering renting a car and driving to Peggy's Cove from the port. Is this a pretty easy drive? The last time we were in Halifax (2000) we took a ship's tour which was nice but the stop at PC was VERY short. We're always hesitant to rent cars in a strange place but it certainly would be much more cost effective.

Very Easy About 25 miles. Allow an hour. Continue on to Chester if you have time.

Renting a car or van is a great way to go. Here is a previous thread:

I would advise getting the car ASAP and getting to Peggys early before the tour busses. Alternatively, plan your trip for the afternoon when the tours have left.

If you want less touristy places take what time you want to allot and follow the coastal roads. If you do not have a map, pick one up at the cruise terminal.

I would feel fine renting a car in Canada or the US. Our laws are basic in Halifax. We can turn right on a red light unless a sign says don't. The only big issue in the city is that pedestrians have the right of way at intersections and crosswalks. Just beware as many don't bother to look for cars. Just get a car and a map ( I take my GPS on trips) and enjoy youself.:)

We rented a car from National Car Rental, which is located in train station just across the street from where Princess Docks. We drove out to Peggy's Cove for the day and on the way back into town stopped at Fairview Cemetery to see the Titanic graves.

The drive to Peggy’s Cove was very easy, as was the drive to the cemetery and back to the ship. It was a very nice day.
