Celebrity Select Dining

Hi all, just a quick question - we're on the Select Dining plan and were wondering, do we still have to make a reservation for our preferred seating time? Or can we just show up to the MDR (there's just 2 of us, and we prefer to have 2 seaters though we're open to dining with others) and get a table?

Also a sidebar, when are the usual showtimes on board the ship? Is there an early and a late show? Thanks!

I'll be sailing with four other couples on my next cruise. will we be able to get a table for ten ea h evening with Select Dining?

Based on my observations it would be better to have a reservations with a group of 10. I am cruising with a group of 6 on my next cruise and I made a reservation. I am also cruising later with a group of 4 and I did not make any reservations.

Cool! Thanks!

Also, if we dine on the earlier side (say 6pm) would we be able to make the early show?

That is what we are hoping to do. We haven't experienced Select on Celebrity as yet, but we have successfully done just that on several NCL cruises.

You have the best chance if you arrive as soon as the dining room opens, try for a table for two, and tell your servers that you would like to make the early show if possible.

We have had all of the courses in about 50 minutes, which to me is not rushed at all. I have been at tables for ten or more during assigned dining on some early cruises, and got sore from sitting over two hours.

We like to make the early show as well, as we like to arise early especially on port days.

I would say it depends what time you like to eat but

would make sure the reservations are linked and speak to the Maitre D

as early as possible so that he is aware that you are in a group of

10 and will all be dining together.

Depending on the time you may have to wait 10 minutes or so , but you can wait in the bar area and they will come and fetch you.

Don't forget if you are dining in the Specialty Restaurants to let the staff know

so they will not be waiting for you.

I would imagine knowing X that after a night or two they will be exoecting you and your table will be ready.

That is if you plan to eat around the same time.

Have a great cruise.

That's good to know! Thanks! We are early eaters (usually prefer to eat at around 5:30p or 6:00p) and we also prefer to catch early shows ...

One reason was when I booked, the early assigned was on waitlist. So I chose Select. When I did my E-Check-in, they offered advance reservations for the Grand Cuvee Select as early as 5:45 PM. So that extra 15 minutes will help even more, and I pre-reserved that time and table for two for the entire cruise. Hope it works out okay.....

I also had a problem booking the early traditional dining for my next cruise. When I tried to book, the online reservation would only let me select late traditional or select. Since I am traveling with 3 generations of my family, I insisted on traditional dining at the early time. I told them that I would not book unless I was placed in the traditional dining. It happened.
