JABE9999 Posted October 16, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 16, 2011 We are presently on a Regent cruise. I noticed a green magnet on the lower corner of my door. I see them on a few other doors also, but not many. Does anyone know what they are there for? Did we do something wrong?
Travelcat2 Posted October 16, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 16, 2011 Don't know what it is, but am very curious. Which ship are you on?

hondorner Posted October 16, 2011 #7 Share Posted October 16, 2011 You're fortunate! Some of the rooms have red magnets! JK ;)
Wendy The Wanderer Posted October 16, 2011 #8 Share Posted October 16, 2011 I'm guessing it is a method of identifying certain rooms. The question is for what--which stewardess does your room, for example. But then you would infer that all the rooms would have magnets of different colours. Unless, of course, there were only two stewards for a particular corridor.
Rare Roland4 Posted October 16, 2011 #9 Share Posted October 16, 2011 Is it a magenet, or one of the floor level green emergency exit track lighting. That would explain why the cabins don't all have them. Just an idle thought on a Sunday morning.
Threechicks Posted October 16, 2011 #10 Share Posted October 16, 2011 Magnets placed on doors are usually there to stick to the wall (if it is metal) to keep the door open.

You are correct Elsie but, the doors open inward, if I remember correctly so the magnets to hold the door open would be on the inside of the doors and believe the OP mentioned seeing the magnets on other doors so assume they are on the corridor side of the door. You are right Dave. I didn't think of that. I have never seen them so am just guessing.

TedC Posted October 16, 2011 #15 Share Posted October 16, 2011 If you have green magnet you can continue whatever you were doing. If RED stop it now!
nana541 Posted October 16, 2011 #16 Share Posted October 16, 2011 Maybe "green" indicates neat passengers and "red" means enter at your own risk these folks are NOT tidy :D
