Hi All

We're considering this cruise after just coming back from Solstice around the med. Whilst we'd like to do Med again, we're tempted by the stay in New York prior to the cruise and lots of lovely Caribbean ports of call.

Whilst we understand the Caribbean will be hot when we get there after 3 sea days, we're concerned about the temperature in New York and how long into the sea days it will start to warm up. Can anyone living in USA or people who have been on similar cruise let us know what the weather is like late March/early April to help us decide? Will it be chilly until we get to the Caribbean or is it sun bathing weather??

Thanks in advance

Definitely not sun bathing weather!

March

Average High - 50°F / 10°C

Average Low - 35°F / 2°C

Most New Yorkers consider March weather to be the most unpredictable. Snow and other forms of wintry weather are still in the forecast even though the official start of spring occurs in March. I would still pack winter weather clothing for a trip to New York during this month.

April

Average High - 60°F / 16°C

Average Low - 45°F / 7°C

April is a transitional month in New York City. Winter has faded and Spring is slowly raising the temperature. April can be a rainy month and late season snow storms have dumped the white stuff on the city in the past, so keep a good eye on the weather if you're planning on visiting during this month.

You may not need heavy winter clothes in April, but you will still need to dress warmly.

By the second sea day of your cruise it will be warm enough to be by the pool.......

We've sailed in October and loved going from the crisp air to the warm Caribbean.

Yes, I would bring warmer clothes for NY but once you head south the weather changes and it's neat going from a cold to warm temp. BTW, at the pools, they put our nice, warm, cuddly wool blankets, replacing towels, until you arrive in the warmer tropics.

We're on the 3/17 sailing. Why not consider that one? Hop over to the thread and meet some really great folks.

Whichever you decide, have a great trip and don't be that concerned about the weather. AND, I am a NY girl, born and bred and still live in NJ so visiting NY is a must if you can. Love the City.

We did a twelve day last year the first 2 weeks of March. Maybe not sunbathing weather, but the afternoon of the 1st sea day, crowds of folks outside around the pool. Same on the return trip. Weather was nice enough to be outside. We are booked again for March 2012.
