Rare Hlitner Posted November 13, 2011 #6 Share Posted November 13, 2011 I believe X has a Pasta Bar and all of their ships. And we agree... it is delicious and the sauces are very good. Hank
iancal Posted November 13, 2011 #7 Share Posted November 13, 2011 it was on the Constellation in Oct. Pasta was fine. DW said to give the pizza a wide berth...so I did. Pasta sauce was good.
USVI-4-me Posted November 13, 2011 #8 Share Posted November 13, 2011 does anyone know if celebrity still has the pasta bar? we had bolognese several years ago and it was so delicious. Millie had it a few weeks ago, but the pasta was overcooked and the additions were minimal compared to previous Celebrity experiences. Spring 2010 cruise on the Equinox was a ditto of the above. Not worth the calories a second day. Maris

Vol fan Posted November 14, 2011 #12 Share Posted November 14, 2011 You can ask for pesto at the pasta bar even though it is not shown. They have it in the back. My husband always asks for it. He has lunch at the pasta bar every day on board and loves it. Carole

rwr235 Posted November 14, 2011 #15 Share Posted November 14, 2011 "but the pasta was overcooked and the additions were minimal" No reason for this to happen...On Celebrity, as on most cruise lines, just ask (politely) and ye shall receive !! Case in point...My wife loves her daily spinach omelet (just as I love my daily, hot-off-the-iron waffles with a DOLLOP of whip cream and some fresh berries from the fruit bar) however, in my wife's case, she loves a little omelet with her spinach. By the second or third day, they are already preparing her small omelet with a huge portion of spinach as they see her approaching the omelet station !! Same is true at the pasta station...just politely ask for it...the way you want it...and they are more than happy to accommodate your desires !! Dunmore2 Posted November 14, 2011 #16 Share Posted November 14, 2011 I like the pasta without the sauces, just cooked with olive oil, garlic, sundried tomatoes and perhaps mushrooms. A bit of parmesan and black pepper and I am delighted. Mmmmmmmm.
Rare TLCOhio Posted November 14, 2011 #17 Share Posted November 14, 2011 Are we talking about the pasta serving area in the Oceanview Cafe/Buffet that is a part of where they have the pizza? It wasn't super great, custom quality, but it was good and there was variety offered that varied day-to-day. It was a nice part of the "mix" in this quick and easy buffet area. Below is one of my pictures for this area and the great staff on the Solstice. THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio Recently back from a June 7-19 Solstice cruise from Barcelona that had stops in Villefranche, ports near Pisa and Rome, Naples, Kotor, Venice and Dubrovnik. Enjoyed great weather and a wonderful trip. Dozens of wonderful visuals with key highlights, tips, comments, etc., on these postings. Rare ghstudio Posted November 14, 2011 #18 Share Posted November 14, 2011 The pizza doesn't look great, and from personal experience, it tastes worse than it looks....but the pasta is pretty good.
Rare TLCOhio Posted November 14, 2011 #19 Share Posted November 14, 2011 The pizza doesn't look great, and from personal experience, it tastes worse than it looks....but the pasta is pretty good. Our experience was that the pizza was pretty good, IF, and only if you got it "hot" just as it came out of the oven. If it had been sitting there for some time, the quality faded quickly to "average" or less. The nice thing about the Celebrity buffet was that you had lots of variety, options and selection. Keep sampling and testing till you find what you really like and enjoy. THANKS! Enjoy!
