Newbuild Nbr 29 "little" Voyager of the seas

Recommended Posts

This is literally the coolest thread I have ever read on here...Dead serious. I LOVE models of everything. I am absolutely fascinated by cruise ships, and that the reason I sail...just to experience the ships. Keep us updated with these things!!

Hello everyone.

I have marked down what needs to be done;

Complete repaint (and add new stickers for the windows)

repaint hull under the waterline

update electronics

Install fans over the speed controllers

replace stabilizors

replace the rudders. The imitation azipods were lousy rudders

Trace a leak in the center compartment

Make a better seal where both hulls are bolted together

repaint all the lifeboats

remove the kidspool

build the Flowrider

Bowthrusters setting (only 50% thrust to starbord)

This will keep me busy during the winter.

I will post regular updates.

Best regards from Belgium

Jan

Hello everyone,

There is not much to see from what I have done. The ruddes are out and I ordered new ones that are made in Austalia. The center azipot is out too and will not be put ack as it caused drag.

I also removed the stabilizors as new ones are ready.

I will also sand and respray all 28 lifeboats to a more original color.

Those windows on the hull are stickers and are dfficult to remove. I will need to sand the whole hull.

I cannot seem to upload any pictures.

More to come.

Jan

I just cannot seem to upload any pictures via photobucket anymore. That IMG does not appear anymore and Photobucket keeps giving me error messages.

I removed the rudders and stabilazors. All the paint is scraped off the hull and the hull has been wet sanded. She is as smooth as it can be. The grey color is a primer I spaypainted on. I used some filler here and there so I want to make sure this will not show thu the paint. I hope I can install the new stabllizors and Becker rudders next week and give the hull a new paint job. I think at least 3 coatings will be necessary. I have also removed part lf the golf course so there is room for the Flowrider.

Hello John,

I can see I'm a bit late to the party here, but I was wondering if you could share any of the plans you used to make your models?  I have full general arrangement plans for many cruise ships, even newer ones.  I know you have an affinity for Royal Caribbean, I have plans of their Radiance, Oasis, and Quantum classes, very high quality shipyard original PDF plans.  You can email me at wmclapper@gmail.com (or anyone else who is interested and has something to offer).

Very Respectfully,

Winston

I followed this interesting thread years ago.  It doesn’t appear he has posted anything since December, 2016.

I certainly hope John is alive and well, and continuing his model building.  I would be interested in seeing more if he is still building.
