vandals04 Posted December 18, 2011 #1 Share Posted December 18, 2011 I usually use cash in the casino but was curious if they are charging a fee to take out money. Ive been on sailings they they have and also been on sailings that they havent. I just found this on NCL.com and was curious if this is now a fleet wide policy. Casinos at Sea™ offers casino credit lines. For your convenience, you may charge up to $2,000 per day on your onboard account for the purchase of casino chips and tokens without a service charge. If applying for additional credit, the minimum credit application amount is $3,000. Players interested in applying for a credit line must complete an NCL credit application for banking and gaming verification, and a signed, personal check is required to be deposited with the Casino Cage upon activation of the approved credit line. Fax the application to NCL’s casino credit coordinator at 305.468.2023. Please allow at least two weeks for processing and verification. A credit line can also be established on board. See Casino Manager for details. http://www.ncl.com/nclabe/cruiser/staticPages.html?pageId=cas_az
Coastalbreezes Posted December 18, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 18, 2011 The fee is 3%. Of course, you can always use the ATM in the casino to withdraw cash and to my recollection the charge was $4.00. TracyE

sjbdtz Posted December 18, 2011 #4 Share Posted December 18, 2011 I don't know whether it's because I knew the people involved, and for that reason I've resisted saying anything....but has anyone been charged the 3% LATELY? I was charged it on the Sun in October, but not on the Spirit in November. Nobody said a word about it, and I didn't ask..... .

Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted December 18, 2011 #6 Share Posted December 18, 2011 On the Epic recently I bought chips on two occasions. The first time, I was not charged, the second time I was. It really comes down, in my opinion, to who you ask, what mood they are in, at what level you are playing, if you are tipping, and the phase of the moon. I have experienced this same "sometimes charged, sometimes not" on most cruises (across different lines) - so it may be "policy", but they DO have some leeway! weloverunning Posted December 18, 2011 #7 Share Posted December 18, 2011 They charged on all four occasions on the Dawn 11/23-12/4. Each time they explained ahead of time that there is a 3% fee. They even explained it to someone getting cash at the blackjack table. However, we get 5% cash back our credit card so I don't mind paying the 3% at all. :D
Stillfloatin' Posted December 18, 2011 #8 Share Posted December 18, 2011 Thanks to all the people who used the casino as their personal bank for cash instead of gaming, NCL has had to institute a charge. For those who are serious CAS players, if you ask for the casino host to check your previous play, they will waive the fee. I've been predicting for years that those people who thought the casino money was a personal free ATM would ruin it for all of the gamers who only used it for gaming. And sure enough.....:(

weloverunning Posted December 18, 2011 #10 Share Posted December 18, 2011 It is a Chase AARP Visa. The 5% is on everything for six months. After my six months, we opened one in DH name for an additional six months. We are now in our final billing period :( but with Christmas and four kids... http://aarpcreditcard.com/Default

Pokeraddict Posted December 18, 2011 #12 Share Posted December 18, 2011 Yep - though one would think, with me sitting at the $50 table and playing two spots with black chips, that they could have surmised that I was more a player than someone wanting to use them for an ATM! Tom Yep that's us! We couldn't buy Amex points cheaper than on the cruise. We each grab a $1k a day, it then goes to on board acct.then we take the cash home a pay it on the bill without gambling. And on a b2b cruise it adds up pretty fast. We were also doing it when they tried to enforce no cash out of slot receipts (Epic last Jan.)so what we did was just put the voucher in a machine hit "cash out" and wella new slip. Even with the 3% charge still can't buy points that cheap and our Amex card gives double points on travel.
