Shipbound Posted February 12, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2012 If you are going from your hotel to POM to catch a cruise ship try to get to the dock by 10:00am because if you leave say around 11:00 am then traffic going POM will be heavy and will take longer and cost more$$. firefly333 Posted February 12, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 12, 2012 Is this a question? We stayed at Intercontinental and our ship left on a weekend, and a taxi doesnt take long from there.

Chigirlcruzin Posted February 12, 2012 #11 Share Posted February 12, 2012 Holiday Inn POM to port $6.00 pp You're getting ripped off. I've never paid more than $7 metered ($150 with tip) regardless of how many are in the cab.
mondello Posted February 12, 2012 #12 Share Posted February 12, 2012 Holiday Inn POM to port $6.00 pp The pp didn't even register with me when I read that the first time. I'd imagine they charge a flat-rate to make it worth their while being so close to the port but thats a big discrepancy in fares for 1-2 compared to 3-4 pax. Langley Cruisers Posted February 13, 2012 #14 Share Posted February 13, 2012 Stay at a hotel that has shuttle service to the pier :) Nah - a (free) shuttle is never a reason to stay at any hotel, IMO and in others' here on the board. There aren't even that many hotels which offer this (it's discussed regularly here). Do you want to stay at the airport? Miami is a vibrant and exciting city with many great areas to stay. A cab (not a shuttle which charges per person) to the POM won't cost that much and your hotel and surrounding area will be much better and a more memorable start to your vacation. . I suspect the meter fare was $12 split between 2 cruisers - I hope they remembered to tip. :o
