artdiva Posted February 20, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 20, 2012 We will be with RCCL in May arriving in Cannes/MoneCarlo. I have heard that we shouldn't miss a beautiful city named Eze. Has anyone visited Eze? Is it easy to get there from Cannes? What form of transportation would you use?

Has anyone visited Eze? Is it easy to get there from Cannes? What form of transportation would you use? My daughter and her boyfriend were on a Mediterranean cruise last summer, and they took a ship tour that included Nice, Monte Carlo and Eze. I think it was pretty much a whole day tour. They loved it, and thought Eze was lovely. They have some great pictures from that tour and for them Eze was one of the highlites.
nationaltreasure79 Posted February 20, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 20, 2012 We were on a med cruise 6 years ago and took a cruise tour to nice and eze. Eze was the highlight of our day. It is a small town with with winding side walks. If you have a chance to go, I would highly reccomend a trip there.
bobalink Posted February 20, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 20, 2012 We used Revelation Tours while we were in port at Cannes. We met folks on our roll call to share the excursion with; there were 7 of us all together. Our driver met us at the port and we went to Monte Carlo, Nice, Eze, and Saint Paul de Vence. We ate lunch at a nice cafe in Saint Paul. The cafe was nice, we sat at a table outside, and our tour guide was our "interpreter". The waitress was not happy that we all wanted separate checks. Our tour guide worked that out for us. The lunch took much longer than I wanted, but that is the pace in Europe. It was a perfect day, and our driver/guide was punctual, professional and knowledgeable. I would recommend them to anyone. They know their way around, and when we hit traffic, our driver took side streets and maneuvered the van down the winding streets to get us back to the ship in plenty of time. Our day in Saint Paul and Eze was one of my favorites! The little villages are just like what you see in paintings of the Mediterranean. Crooked cobblestone streets, bouganvilla growing on the walls, lanterns, cafes, pottery shops, bakeries. I would go back in a heart beat! Here is a link to their website: http://www.revelation-tours.com/cruise-passengers/ Have a wonderful time!

However, if you can manage to include Saint Paul de Vence, that would be my top choice. We did both in a half day tour. Sorry, I can't help regarding transportation, we took a private tour. cruise kitty Posted February 20, 2012 #6 Share Posted February 20, 2012 We will be with RCCL in May arriving in Cannes/MoneCarlo. I have heard that we shouldn't miss a beautiful city named Eze. Has anyone visited Eze? Is it easy to get there from Cannes? What form of transportation would you use? Cannes is actually a bit of a distance from Monte Carlo, so knowing exactly where you're docking or tendering is important. Eze is about half way between the two give or take a bit. I know there's a bus you can take, you'd have to switch buses at some point, but this kind of trip is going to take up a bit of your time if you're coming all the way from Cannes. I don't know what bus from Cannes to Nice, but from Nice to Eze its bus 112 or 83, depending on time of day. (that's what we did, bus from Nice to Eze, then hiked the trail back down) Personally, I'd spend some time in Nice, I also know there's a village called Paul Vence (not sure on the name) that a lot of people here recommend & I think it's closer to Cannes. Oh, just saw that the poster above me recommended Paul de Vence, so you may want to check that out.
artdiva Posted February 20, 2012 Author #7 Share Posted February 20, 2012 Thanks to all of you. I think we would be most comfortable with some sort of guided tour. There are four of us in our party, so we may look for small group tours.
Rare Hlitner Posted February 21, 2012 #8 Share Posted February 21, 2012 This post is a bit of a puzzle since Cannes and Monte Carlo are more then 1 hour apart and they are both cruise ports. My first inclination is to ask, "which port." As to the location of Eze (Village) it lies between Nice and Monte Carlo (much closer to Monte Carlo) and is a good hour away from Monte Carlo. guineapig Posted February 25, 2012 #9 Share Posted February 25, 2012 Our ship docked at Villafranche and then we took a ships tour that visited Nice for a few hours, then to Eze and onto Monaco/Mont Carlo all in one day. Yes it was a long day but very do-able and all well worth a visit. Eze is beautiful-a steep climb up, can be quiet tough if your unfit like me!through a small village-no traffic (maybe bikes?) with a fantastic site at the top. Make sure you pay to go into the gardens at the top-not sure of price-thats where you get the best views from.:)
