Royal Princess Deck Plans--here they are!

Although I know the Explorer's Lounge has its fans, I think in the long run a more theater-like layout for that space makes more sense. Quite often the comedy shows and similar acts end up in the Explorers Lounge. If the performer is any good the place tends to end up jam-packed most of the time, and the Explorer's Lounge layout isn't a good use of space for this type of thing. Also good to see a more traditional layout for the Vista Lounge too, Club Fusion was just ill-conceived from the start.

I agree completely.

One other thing I noticed, it seems the only way to get an aft suite on the Royal is an Owner's Suite. When I can afford a suite, I always like the VS aft, but I'm guessing the Owner's Suite will be out of my price range.

Thanks for providing the new link to the deck plans. I was intrigued by the Princess Live area, hoping it would be a great update for Explorers, but wow, is it TINY! Not to mention the movie theater style layout means it loses some of the comfortable seating and charm of Explorers. Not sure this one is an improvement either.

Seems like a lot of spaces have suffered for the Piazza expansion. Explorers and the Wheelhouse are both greatly diminished in size.

"diminished in size", but originally if you want to have a drink it usually felt too large and if you want to see entertainment at night, it was too small due to layout. Princess is just enlarging, reducing and rearranging due to demand. As for Princess Live - probably for 2nd-rate comedians & magicians, talks on obscured topics or low demand topics - quite needed.

Is there still a lobby bar or has that been integrated with Vines?

I suspect that those are vents of some sort.

I think you're right. In the original artist renditions they are vent louvers

Ah... bummer. I thought they may have been holding out on a Skywalkers-type venue. :p

We cannot really look at the number of seats shown in the restaurants and lounges on the new deck plans and assume that they are representative on the finished ship. For example, they mention in the announcements that the Horizon Terrace will have seating for 350 or so passengers, yet on the deck plans there is probably seating shown for no more than 300. There are other examples of this when you compare the deck plans to the video where you see more seating and tables on the video than are shown in the deck plans. I'd say that the deck plans are there to give us an idea of the ship layout, but I wouldn't draw too many conclusions about how many people will fit in various venues based on the deck plans.

Keep in mind that the Royal Princess has been increased in length by 150 feet over the other ships, so the scale of this particular ship is different. I'm guessing the size is roughly equivalent to the current Explorers Lounge, which isn't really all that big, all things considered.

As far as the nightclub goes, according to the deckplans there is a space called "Club 6" near the casino on the 6th deck. I would assume this is a nightclub/disco because there is a dancefloor marked at the top/fwd area of the space. It doesn't appear to be a very large club. However, due to the size aspect ratio of the deck plans, it's hard to tell. Also, they may have made the dance club smaller since it usually never got a very lage croud anyway;......however, now that it's near the casino....maybe there will be more partying?? :D

I could care less about pools. I don't even bring a bathing suit. Pools on ships seem to be mainly for beer drinkers who don't want to leave the area. I never go in a public pool or hot tub. I have one at home.

:(:( Duhh..... How does this add to the conversations??
