Michelle82 Posted April 4, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 4, 2012 We are going to Alaska in May with another couple. The other couple have never been on a cruise before and really want to go in the pool. I told them it would be to cold to use the pool but they really want to and are hoping the pool is heated. Does anyone know. The ship is Sapphire Princess. CruiserBruce Posted April 4, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 4, 2012 You might ask this on the Princess board, here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=197 They probably would be, but that is a cruise line policy.

Budget Queen Posted April 5, 2012 #4 Share Posted April 5, 2012 Even if pools are heated, they can not keep up, if it's cold outside. :) There will be a few hardy souls always swimming. But, I'm smiling when I'm walking by bundled up in my layers, jacket, hat and gloves. You can also hit warm days, so take advantage.
dabear Posted April 5, 2012 #5 Share Posted April 5, 2012 Some ships have indoor pools. Unfortunately I do not think the Sapphire has one. They should have an outdoor hot tub that should be working.

I only used the hot tub but the kids in our group swam almost every day and I didn't hear any complaints about the water being too cold.
Rare Coral Posted April 6, 2012 #7 Share Posted April 6, 2012 Some ships have indoor pools. Unfortunately I do not think the Sapphire has one. They should have an outdoor hot tub that should be working. The Sapphire has a pool with a retractable roof which is almost always closed. They should be fine swimming in it! A few years ago, it was really hot in May and people swam in the other pools also.
luvlake Posted April 6, 2012 #8 Share Posted April 6, 2012 When we were on the Sapphire there were several people and kids using the inside pool. They are heated and the way I understand it they are not salt water pools. The hot tubs on the aft deck were used quite a bit also. Love the Sapphire!:)

I'm never a pool user, especially in Alaska- but, my nephews are finally going with me to Alaska this year, so, it will be an added activity for them. :)
