spa hogs

Nice to see stories coming to light!

What's yours?

.

In the theater one night, we got there early to get good seats. Well, much to my surprise, there were 2 kids, boys about 8 & 10, actually laying right across the seats, saving oh, 6 or so each. They would not move, and I tried. Of course I couldn't find a staff member to help at the time. We took other seats a row or two back and could not believe it when the adults came in seconds before the show started. They were giving the kids high fives and telling them what a good job they did chair hogging. I was so blown away by that. That is how bad it can get.

Yes, it goes on in the spa also. Just back from the Dream. People were putting items on treadmills

to save machines. I got on a treadmill and a man said, "oh, I'm saving that machine for my wife." I said, "I'll use it until she gets back." She came in about ten minutes and I decided

not to get off after thinking about the situation for those ten minutes.

Good Evening

Carnivore needs to stop all the chogging everywhere. HoPing for more than lip service in the future.

I always save my seat at 3-card poker. I leave my chips in my spot until I get back.

The dealer will keep an eye on it for you.

Although I only leave when I need to make a bathroom run.

That is perfectly acceptable.

I have seen it happen in a casino, on land , so i'm sure someone would try it on a cruise. They had their card in the machine, and when i went to remove it, a person 2 machines down said that her friend went to the bathroom and would be right back.

That is because they have been loosing for the last hour so they feel that the machine is due. Each pull of the slot machine lever (now that dates me) is an independent statistical event that is not influenced by the success of failure of the previous pull(s).

However, nobody believes that. They think that the machine remembers that it has gone 100 pulls without paying off so the brain of the machine will favor the next pull.

Fools!

Reading some of these threads you would think there was not a seat to be had anywhere. As if the cruise were standing room only. I have never had a problem finding a seat, treadmill, slot machine, chaise, bench, booth, table, stool, chair, elliptical or love seat.

IDK maybe I've always had perfect timing and my luck will run out on my next cruise........

It's not about the quantity. It's about the absurd rudeness of it all.

But, if time together is the point (and it's a great point) it's perfectly reasonable to wait until you're both ready, then choose from the equipment that's available rather than try to prevent someone who's ready to use a treadmill immediately from having to wait. That just seems polite to me.

This is what my husband and I do. We go when we are both ready and if two treads aren't available next to each other we take the closest and move when one comes open next to the other. Usually we are both far enough in our workouts that we don't want to break and stay right where we are. Unless he's going to be just a minute or two I wouldn't bother holding a tread or other piece of equipment, especially if someone is waiting and ready to workout now. I know how hard it is for me to sometimes get pumped up to workout (especially on vacation) and am ready to do it and get it done, so I'd hate to be told I can't because someone is holding it for someone who isn't in the immediate area.

Thirty years ago, I remember a slot machine technician guy showing me the little lever inside

whereby he can sweeten things in the gambler's favor

-or sweeten it in the machine's favor.

They know how to play with it to keep customers interested *wink*

And I like to be next to my husband so when he turns the other way I can reach over and turn his up really fast so he almost falls off! I actually may be one of the few that prefer to work out next to someone, why can't I hold a conversation while working out? Makes it less boring and time go by quickly...

Ok, I could actually visualize doing this, LOL!!! So do you think that makes me mean or just very easily entertained? :)

No one wants to overhear loud conversations at the gym, pool, or any other public area. ;)

Hee hee, some people, not me of course, like to "overhear" those conversations.... But not me, really! (smirk, wink!)

I agree with the OP, saving a treadmill is a little much. I've never actually experienced it myself, but I would probably handle it the same way, after first eating a bean and broccoli burrito! ;)

I'm just glad cell phones don't work on the ship. There is nothing more annoying than listening to somebody having a "loud" conversation with their ear piece. Whether on the treadmill, an elevator, at the dinner table ...

Lol...people save slot machines all the time. I've seen it with my own eyes.

When I needed to kill time in a casino I would walk around looking at the machines. It was funny how some players would see you looking at the machine they would reach over and put money into the machine. I think they were afraid that I would play it and win. I would then say to them that I was glad that I didnt waste my money on it after they lost and then walk away.

I take this view. Your rights stop when they impose I

on mine. I will take an unoccupied chair, treadmill, bench, stool, bathroom stall, lifeboat, etc. I WISH someone would give me a hard time. I reserved all the loungers from my last cruise so you can't us them . Ha ha
