Questions for those who've had side by side minis (or balconies) on Jewel class ships

We will have 3 minis side by side on the Jewel and we're hoping that we will be able to have the dividers removed. Does anyone here have experience, (positive OR negative) with that?

The dividers are not removeable.

There is an opening "door" in each divider and sometimes you can get the cabin steward to open them. It used to be quite common, but i guess there are new rules about that.. something like only in port. If not tied down, those doors will swing when the ship is underway and could be a safety hazard.

Oh bummer! We were hoping the dividers could be removed so we'd be able to wander from room to room without having to bother with key cards. At least some of the time. It would also be fun to have one big deck between the 3 units.

Thanks for the reply!

The balcony doors is a frequent subject and there are a LOT of threads on it so won't bother "re-hashing" those details. What I have NOT seen is if any of these "connecting cabins" actually have an INDOOR...door as appears to be shown on the deck floorplans?

We stayed in one that had a connecting door, but we weren't associated with the people on the other side of the door.

We did exactly what you described by opening the balcony dividers ourselves.

One of the main reasons that the rules have been changed is due to people taking matters into their own hands. There is a serious safety issue with these doors being opened. These doors are heavy and if they happen to close uncontrolled, serious injury could occur. Please play by the rules whether you agree with them or not!!

We had 3 balcony cabins in a row on the Jewel in 2010. There was a connecting door between 2 (which is why we booked those cabins - family of 7, 5 children). Our cabin steward opened the balcony dividers for us on the first day, and they remained open the whole week, and we were able to go back and forth between cabins easily.
