Has the extra furniture arrived on Caribe Deck?

We should keep this post current and pester Princess, I have 2 cruises with 3 cabins on each in December/January Grand and Caribbean, if furniture not replaced will downgrade to save $1000 as no point in caribe balcony if they do not revert back to larger table. I will take my stateroom chairs onto balcony to make 3/4 chairs myself. Princess speak up NOW, this is disgusting customer service!!!!!!!!!!!

Just off the Coral (full canal transit) and our Caribe balcony had the usual two chairs, two lounges and a large table. Just like we've always had.

I just read a reveiw of someone just of the Grand. They were on Caribe deck and said the new furniture has not arrived.

I received an e-mail back in April from my TA to inform me that she was going on a cruise in May with staff from Princess including Mr Buckelew and was looking for any feedback I might have for them. I of course replied to her concerning the situation with the new furniture and the number of posts here on CC about this. Well I just received an e-mail back from her saying that they are going to change the furniture back. She didn't say whether there would be 2 or 4 chairs. I am so hoping this will happen soon.

Princess has 15? large ships. Each wih up to 900 balconies? The number of new chairs would be somewhere in the range of 27,000 chairs alone!

To have the new design approved, the chairs built and then shipped from overseas, through customs, etc takes several months. not to mention the time to change all of them.

Any news about the funiture on the Ruby? We are booked on the Ruby on the Caribe Deck (corner aft) in Sept. This is really making me mad. While we LOVE Princess, my bed on the Emerald last June was like sleeping on a curved rock and now, the deck funiture???? C'mon!!!!

 

HAL has the most lovely deck furniture. Rattan, comfy seats with cushions, big arm rests, and ottomans. Nice sized table, too along with a smaller table for drinks. Maybe we need to rethink Princess if things don't change soon.

The Ruby is the newest ship in the Fleet. ( at least until the Royal sets sail) It is doubtful that the furnature has been changed from the original. After all, they would start replacing the oldest stuff first. Was the furnature OK the last time you were on her? How was the bed on that trip?

 

We are on the Ruby in August. I will submit a report here.

No furniture had been added to the Caribe deck balconies on the Sapphire as of two weeks ago. We did have the rubber mat on the floor though.

 

Port side on Sapphire Princess had the "new" furniture on Dolphin & Caribe, not on Baja(which is the deck I was on). I sailed May 12th.

The furniture was the "old" when we were last on the Ruby. Comfortable..four chairs( two loungers and two reg) small table and large table. But, clearly HAL has the edge on furniture, beds and linens.

I am still hoping someone will have seen the tiny tiny table removed and a larger one materialise on caribe deck balconies as well as at least two ottomans or two extra- chairs on the balcony It seems empty now with the new stuff! Here's hoping........ Anyone ..........Princess...... Lol.

I was on the Sapphire for 3 weeks starting in mid-May.

 

We had a mini suite on Emerald Deck. We had 2 reclining chairs, 2 ottomans and one medium sized table. We had 4 glacier days and (usually) enjoy sitting outside on our extended balcony (E731). These new chairs are incredibly uncomfortable!

 

If I had a Caribe balcony booked in the future, I wouldn't worry about getting more chairs as I doubt you will sit in their chairs long if you had enough for your cabin! They are that uncomfortable.

 

This line of chairs need to be replaced and the old kind should be brought back. Our room steward had an extra older type lounge in a suite and they didn't want it so he brought it to us. Very nice room steward!

 

I used to love to sit outside and read on my balcony but these chairs make it very uncomfortable to do so.

Wow, I am thinking about going on the Ruby in December and the last time we were on the Island Princess we were in an inside room so we are treating out selves to a "balcony" but what kind of treat will it be if we can't sit out there comfortably?

I will be on the Ruby in about 6 weeks. Reports so far indicate thet they have not changed the furniture on the Ruby as of yet. Realize that there are at least 25,000 chairs to change if they change them all, and they will start with the oldest ships (and oldest furniture ) first. Ruby is the newest ship in the fleet. They would be last on the list for a replacement.

 

Based on some reports about the new chairs failing already, I am guessing that they will most likely change to a better quality piece long before they finish changing all of them on all the ships.

 

PS Balconies are awesome no matter what! You will be hooked!

"New furnishings have begun to debut around the fleet, including pillow mattress tops for suites and mini-suites, upgraded balcony furniture, Horizon Terrace furniture and king-size pillows for all staterooms to name a few."

 

Based on this letter sent to elite members along with some 'special' prices, their previous statement is not true! Apparently since they're promoting their upgraded balcony furniture we're going to be stuck with the uncomfortable and fewer number of chairs on balconies despite their statement to the contrary here on CC. :(

What reason do you have to believe that they have not already sourced a different replacement instead of the furniture that has received so many complaints and already has had failures?

 

In other words An upgrade of the upgrade? Based on the age of the ships that are getting new furniture, some was in need of replacement simply because it does not last forever.

Don't you think someone would have posted about replacing the less comfortable 'new' balcony furniture? The only posts have said 'no' so nothing yet. :rolleyes:

I'm fully aware that some people go to CC just to be critical but the overwhelming majority of us come here to share information with each other including good news such as a better quality of balcony furniture if it was used! :rolleyes:

I will definitely report back from the Ruby is a few weeks. We have a mini-suite. I am expecting the original furniture to be still in place.

 

I guess I am just an incurable optimist! :D
